Position Summary: The Academic Administrator II serves as the primary administrative coordinator for Activate, a faculty-led program within the School of Engineering and Computing. Under the general supervision of the Faculty Director, this position helps bring structure to evolving practices, strengthens continuity for the faculty team, and creates practical tools and documentation that make the program easier to operate, sustain, and transition over time. The position supports the administrative infrastructure behind Activate’s academic, instructional, and student-facing work, including program operations, communications, stakeholder coordination, materials, meetings, events, budget tracking, and reporting. Working closely with the Faculty Director and faculty team, the Administrator helps translate program priorities into coordinated administrative action and ensures that Activate’s programs, communications, and reporting are supported in a way that keeps the program organized, responsive, and moving forward. Ideal Candidate Statement: The ideal candidate is a highly organized, proactive administrator who can serve as a trusted administrative resource for a faculty-led program. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, responsive, and able to manage multiple priorities with appropriate independence. They are a reliable resource for faculty, students, and stakeholders, proactively maintaining the processes, documentation, and communication practices that help the program operate smoothly over time. Workplace Requirements: This position is offered as a hybrid role, combining both in-office and remote work to provide flexibility and support collaboration. Per Rice policy 440 , work arrangements may be subject to change. Hiring Range: $26.00 – 28.00 per hour for 25–30 work hours per week *Non-Exempt (hourly) positions under FLSA are eligible for overtime.
