Our reach extends across 55+ distribution centers and thousands of retail locations in the U.S. and Canada ensuring that we deliver the right door for every opening – from homes to businesses and beyond.</p>\n<p>By joining our team, you become part of a legacy that blends the residential elegance of Clopay, known as \"America’s Favorite Garage Doors,\" with the industrial strength and 180-year heritage of our rolling brands, Cornell and Cookson.  Together, we secure everything from family garages to the world's most iconic stadiums and skyscrapers.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>We currently have an opening for a Buyer 1 in our Troy location.  Responsibilities include:</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Plan and analyze material requirements for assigned commodities utilizing available forecast, historical information, current industry information, and company inventory objectives.</li>\n<li>Expedite material requirements as necessary to prevent interruptions in customer orders and production shortages.</li>\n<li>Purchase assigned commodity items according to the approved purchasing strategy.</li>\n<li>Review item or material needs with various departments and investigate new sources.</li>\n<li>With assistance from the department team, prepare, execute, and evaluate RFP/RFQs.</li>\n<li>With the support and guidance of purchasing management, utilize acceptable techniques, including ABC analysis, economic order quantities, and other principles of inventory control to determine item stock levels, assuring on-hand inventory while minimizing storage, handling, and obsolescence costs.</li>\n<li>Notify the Manager of inventory changes relative to budgeted levels.</li>\n<li>Review the monthly operational forecast to uncover unexpected turning points in customer trends.</li>\n<li>Validate, update, and maintain Purchasing centric item, sourcing, and supplier records.</li>\n<li>Provide suppliers with detailed current and annual purchase expectations.</li>\n<li>Participate in interviews with current and prospective suppliers.</li>\n<li>Pair with Clopay’s Purchasing Project Analyst to identify, develop, and execute strategic sourcing initiatives, cost savings strategies, and product improvement initiatives.</li>\n<li>Work with Clopay’s Purchasing Quality Engineer to assist in the resolution of product quality issues.</li>\n<li>In collaboration with Purchasing, Quality, and the department team, participate in the annual key supplier performance reviews. </li>\n<li>Assist in the preparation for Supplier negotiations.</li>\n<li>Maintain records and files to ensure information availability to other required personnel.</li>\n<li>Obtain certifications of delivery and shipment when required.</li>\n<li>Check and approve invoices for payment.</li>\n<li>Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements throughout the supply chain.</li>\n<li>Approach and support Clopay’s purchasing requirements as a supportive and collaborative member of the Purchasing Team, providing back-up assistance and issue support as needed.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Requirements</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or equivalent</li>\n<li>Some experience working in an office setting. </li>\n<li>Ability to work in the office each day</li>\n<li>Travel is sometimes required.</li>\n<li>Strong communication skills- Verbal and Written</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>We don't just manufacture doors; we engineer the \"front door\" of the American dream and the security of global commerce.
