JOB SUMMARY : Develop programming to support effective strength-based instruction for twice-exceptional students (students identified as gifted/talented with an identified co-existing disability requiring Special Education services). Effectively deliver instruction that promotes an exemplary educational program which fosters achievement for all students. Assignments include twice exceptional students with mild to moderate to severe needs accessing varied Least Restrictive Environment settings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : The subsequent duties outline the fundamental operations of the position and exemplify the nature of the tasks carried out. They do not encompass a comprehensive inventory of the obligations and responsibilities fulfilled in this role. The approximation of frequencies and time allocation percentages are flexible and subject to the requirements of the organization. Design assignments and assessment tasks that allow twice exceptional students to demonstrate understanding in a variety of ways and utilize assessment data to provide meaningful feedback as well as to adjust instruction.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : The minimum prerequisites of formal education, professional work experience, certifications, licenses, endorsements, designations, trainings, and other criteria that a candidate must fulfill to be considered for a position. Criminal background check and fingerprinting required
Bachelor's degree
One (1) year of professional teaching experience working with the special education population
Colorado Department of Education (CDE) teaching license
CDE Special Education Generalist (ages 5-21) endorsement
Mandatory biannual District-facilitated Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) de-escalation training
Basic knowledge of typical office equipment such as telephones, copiers, fax machines, email, etc.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
Basic classroom management and planning skills
Basic organizational skills
Intermediate verbal and written communication and interpersonal relations skills
Ability to align curriculum and assessments with state content standards
Ability to support programs designed to increase student achievement
Ability to assume leadership in the development and communication of programs and curriculum
Ability and desire to work as a team member
Ability to actively participate in a Professional Learning Community
