We reach almost 80,000 individuals and families, including almost 13,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.</p><p><strong>CAMBA</strong> operates 6 single adult shelters and 6 family shelters and one drop in center. Each shelter offers clients a supportive, structured therapeutic, safe, and drug-free facility.  Homeless (often mentally-ill and substance-abusing) men and women are provided with comprehensive services to stabilize their condition in order to successfully transition into to permanent and/or supported housing.</p><p><strong>CAMBA’s The Kings Inn Family Shelter</strong> is funded by New York City Department of Homeless Services and offers families a supportive, structured therapeutic, safe, and drug-free facility.  It provides comprehensive case management services to 100 families who are in a transitional residence program for homeless families.  The two story facility has rooms of various sizes, common areas and provides on-site security and social services.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Position: Residential Aide</strong></p><p><strong>Reports To: Supervisor </strong></p><p><strong>Location: Queens, NY</strong></p><p><strong><u>What The Recreation Aide Does:</u></strong></p><ul><li>Maintain professional relationships with clients and client confidentiality.</li><li>Practice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol & Procedures.</li><li>Comply with any and all Federal, State, City and CAMBA security and privacy polices intended to protect the security and privacy of individually identifiable health information.</li><li>Assist with the teaching of physical education, arts and crafts, performing arts, music, sports, ADL or other recreational activities.</li><li>Help plan, coordinate and facilitate social and/or peer support events for clients.</li><li>Organize, and co-facilitate group community activities.</li><li>Assist with the design and production of aesthetic visuals for public spaces of the shelter which reflect cultural, seasonal and programmatic themes.</li><li>Communicate effectively with clients, CAMBA staff, community members and with funders.</li><li>Track and keep records of equipment and supplies used.</li><li>Ensure that recreation facilities and equipment are used properly.</li><li>Monitor clients' progress toward their goals (dates achieved) and document via progress notes.</li><li>Market the program in order to recruit clients.</li><li>Provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual reports.</li><li>May conduct initial and ongoing assessments of clients’ situations and needs.</li><li>May prepare marketing materials for the program.</li><li>May create and maintain client files.</li><li>May input client data and client progress information into automated database.</li><li>Tasks may be modified, expanded and/or assigned over time.</li></ul><p><strong><u>Minimum Education/Experience Required:</u></strong></p><ul><li>Highschool Diploma or GED</li><li><p>Two years of relevant experience.</p></li></ul><p><strong><u>Other Requirements:</u></strong></p><ul><li>Bi-lingual English and Spanish</li></ul><p><strong>Compensation</strong>: $19.06 hourly<br><strong> </strong></p><p><strong>Status: </strong>Full-time (35 hours per week) <br><strong>Benefits</strong>: CAMBA offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, dental insurance, 403(b) retirement plan with employer match, paid time off (vacation, personal, and sick time), and paid holidays.</p><p>CAMBA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
