Sleepaway Camp - Program Manager Are you passionate about leading, organizing, and creating amazing experiences for youth? Join us as a staff member at Camp Conowingo! We are located in Conowingo, Maryland on 600 acres of wooded land near the Susquehanna River. At camp you will guide campers through activities, foster an environment of belonging, and get to spend time in community while connecting with nature. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in creation and/or leading of weekly all-camp activities, girl activity choice (GAC) themes, and opening and closing day activities while upholding the utmost safety and efficiency for the girls and staff. Prioritize exceptional customer service for our campers, volunteers, caregivers, and staff, creating a supportive and welcoming atmosphere. Work with and manage the rest of the program team to meet and organize staffing and programming needs. Manage the maintenance and organization of all activity and program areas, ensuring accurate supply inventories and activity logs, and lead restocking and program material allocation; provide a comprehensive inventory report at the close of the camping season. Maintain activity logs in various activity areas and ensure safety of equipment at all times, checking regularly for wear and cleanliness and adhering to American Camp Association (ACA), Maryland state, and GSUSA standards. Manage maintenance, inventory, distribution, and collection of all necessary program and activity equipment, such as walkie talkies, first aid kits, digital cameras, sport equipment, etc. Enforce safety protocols and procedures, including emergency action plans, health, and hygiene standards, and compliance with regulatory requirements; assist in the implementation of regular safety drills and training for staff. Conduct collaborative performance evaluations for staff, providing constructive feedback and identifying areas for improvement; implement strategies for staff development and recognition. Manage administrative tasks, including record-keeping, inventory management, and reporting; ensure all necessary paperwork, such as incident reports or medical forms, are completed accurately and on time, and the proper channels are notified when incidents arise. Exemplify a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and excellent decision-making skills for staff to emulate; encourage and foster a culture of respect, teamwork, and enthusiasm among the team. Manage administrative tasks, including record-keeping, inventory management, and reporting; ensure all necessary paperwork, such as incident reports or medical forms, are completed accurately and on time, and the proper channels are notified when incidents arise. Work with other members of the administrative team and Unit Leaders to create weekly schedules. Adapt swiftly to ever-changing situations, from helping campers overcome fears to handling unexpected weather shifts; embrace challenges with a positive attitude, thriving in a fast-paced, adaptable work environment. General Qualifications for all Camp Staff: Embrace a flexible role. Being flexible and adaptable is essential at camp. Ability to work with diverse groups of adults and campers. Willingness to work as part of a team, work in partnership, take initiative, and follow directions as the situation requires. Enthusiasm for nature and able to live in a rustic environment. Time Commitment: This is a seasonal role that requires living on-site for the duration of the appointment. These dates include paid staff training. Staff will also have two hours of scheduled time off daily and one day off per week (usually Saturday).
