The Community Group (TCG) operates eight Community Kids Place (CKP) Out-of-School Time (OST) programs in Lawrence and Methuen, serving over 400 students in partnership with local school districts. CKP provides high-quality enrichment opportunities during the school year and summer, including field trips, project-based learning, collaboration with community partners, and extended time with school-day teachers. Aligned with the DESE 21st Century Community Learning Centers model, the program focuses on academic and social-emotional growth. All CKP sites are licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care, ensuring a safe, high-quality learning environment.
Role Summary
As an Out-of-School Time (OST) Group Leader Floater at Community Kids Place (CKP), you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience in a dynamic, supportive environment. This part-time position is ideal for individuals interested in building their skills in classroom management, youth development, or mentorship. The ideal candidate is passionate about TCG’s mission and committed to serving as a positive role model and leader for young students.
Schedule: Part-time hours during the school-year 2:00pm-6:00pm, and full-time during school and summer vacations between 7:30am-5:30pm.
Responsibilities (included but not limited to):
Serve as a floater, providing coverage at program sites to fill temporary vacancies (due to leaves, vacations, or open positions);
Travel between CKP sites in Lawrence and Methuen as needed to provide coverage and program support.
Provide a positive, safe, fun, and memorable experience for children and families in TCG's after-school and summer programs;
Prioritize the care, safety, and well-being of children within the group;
Create a physically and emotionally secure and enjoyable environment for children to thrive;
Plan and implement academic enrichment lessons in 10-week project cycles;
Encourage active participation in all activities, helping children realize their full potential
Serve as a positive role model and mentor to enrolled children;
Assist in maintaining and updating children's health, safety, and emergency records;
Maintain a flexible attitude and support Site Coordinator/Program Managers/ Director in immediate tasks.
Actively participate in staff meetings, parent meetings, workshops, and ongoing training;
Complete all required certifications;
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Additional details:
This position provides coverage for absences due to illness, vacations, or other temporary needs.
Floaters may be assigned to a single site for up to six months.
When coverage is not required, this role provides general support at program sites.
Opportunities/Incentives:
Eligible new hires may receive a $500 sign-on bonus after 90 days of employment and a $500 retention bonus after 6 months;
Paid professional development during scheduled in-service training days.
Qualifications
Minimum of 18 years old.
Must possess the qualifications required for their positions in accordance with EEC Regulations.
Must complete CORI, SORI and fingerprint scan in accordance with regulations set forth by the Department of Early Education and Care prior to employment.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus; ability to communicate effectively both orally and written.
Experience working with school age children (5-14 years of age).
Creative and fun personality to implement curriculum and activities.
Evidence of physical examination within one year prior to employment;
Evidence of immunizations against Measles, Mumps and Rubella; and
Maintain current infant/child CPR and First Aid Certification within two months of hire.
Reliable transportation required to travel between CKP sites as needed.
