Description
Are you an experienced Project Manager with a proven ability to deliver complex engineering products from concept through to production?
Do you have experience working in a design and manufacturing environment, coordinating multi‑disciplinary teams, engaging directly with customers and suppliers, and ensuring successful delivery against demanding technical, cost and timing targets?
If so, you could be an excellent fit for our growing engineering team at Advanced Electric Machines.
About Advanced Electric Machines
Advanced Electric Machines (AEM) is a UK‑based designer and manufacturer of award‑winning electric motor and powertrain technologies. We develop sustainable, high‑performance solutions that remove the need for rare earth materials and deliver world‑leading efficiency and power density.
We are an ambitious organisation, where the atmosphere is dynamic and ever changing.
We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our engineering team and manage engineering projects from early concept through to production.
We have big plans and want to make a difference. Do you?
What you’ll do:
You will be responsible for managing cross‑functional engineering projects covering the full product lifecycle, from concept and feasibility through design, validation, industrialisation and production launch.
Creating, maintaining and reporting against detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, resource requirements and risk registers.
Coordinating multi‑disciplinary project teams including mechanical, electrical and manufacturing engineers, test and validation, supply chain and quality functions.
Acting as the primary point of contact for project status, ensuring clear, structured communication to internal stakeholders and senior leadership.
Managing project risks, issues and dependencies, implementing effective mitigation actions and escalating where appropriate.
Working with engineering and commercial teams to translate customer and market requirements into structured development programmes.
Representing AEM in customer meetings, design reviews and programme updates, acting as a professional and credible interface between customers and internal teams.
Engaging directly with suppliers and external partners to support the successful delivery of parts, components and assemblies for both prototype builds and series production.
Driving the application of standard project management processes, governance and reporting across all projects.
Contributing to the continuous improvement of project management capability within the development organisation.
We’d love you to have:
Formal Project Management qualifications (e.g. PRINCE2, APM, PMP or equivalent) would be an advantage.
Proven experience in a Project Manager role within a design and manufacturing environment, delivering engineered products from concept through to production.
Demonstrable experience working in an engineering development organisation, with understanding of design, validation, industrialisation, and manufacturing processes.
Experience in a customer‑facing role, representing a company in customer meetings, design reviews and programme updates.
Proven experience working with suppliers and external partners to deliver components and assemblies for both prototype and production phases.
Experience managing supplier‑related risks including long lead‑times, technical maturity, capacity and production ramp‑
Automotive industry experience is desirable, with specific advantage given to experience in electric powertrain or electric motor development.
A technical or engineering background, or demonstrable experience working closely with engineering teams, would be beneficial.
In return you’ll get:
An opportunity to work for a company producing cutting edge electric motor and powertrain technologies for customers worldwide.
The chance to join a growing business where your achievement will be valued, visible and recognised.
The opportunity to work across the business, using your learned knowledge and skills while exploring and developing on your ideas.
Great colleague benefits:
Private healthcare insurance
Critical Illness Cover
Death in Service Cover
Competitive Pay rates
Salary sacrifice pension scheme
Electric Vehicle salary sacrifice scheme including onsite electric charge points
Enhanced Maternity, Paternity & Shared Parental Leave
25 days holiday per year, increasing after 2 and 4 years’ service
Flexible working arrangements based around core hours
