Position Summary
The Welder is responsible for fabricating and assembling components through welding and related metalwork. This position involves working both in the plant and outdoors in various weather conditions, using a range of welding and fabrication equipment. The Welder ensures all work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company standards, engineering drawings, and applicable codes. This role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment to meet production schedules and quality standards.
Responsibilities
Will need to become a certified welder, certified by the Canadian Welding Bureau for Qualification W47.1 and W186. Able to read shop drawings, bending schedules, welding signs and symbols. Safely set-up, operate and maintain welding equipment and machines. Reads work orders or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials and/or containers to be moved. Positions and clamps work pieces together or assembles them in jigs or fixtures. Fitting of components and weld components together as per drawings. Welds in vertical, horizontal and flat positions. Loads, unloads and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or worksite Inspect the forklift prior to operating, including all fluid groups, update logbook, notify supervisor or maintenance of any problems. Proper shut down of the forklift must be performed, when cleaning or inspecting. Counts, weights, and records number of units of materials moved or handled on daily production sheets. Attach identifying tags or labels to material or marks information on cases, skids, or other containers. Stack or assemble material into bundles and bands bundles together. Knowledge and experience to operate band saw, metal punching, shearing and spray paint equipment and/or pervious experience. Must be knowledgeable and adhere to the Company’s safety policies and procedures. Knowledge of reinforcing bar (rebar) sizes. Knowledge of metric/imperial measurements. All other duties as required. Education/ Qualifications
Must have completed a welding course.
Canadian Welding Bureau certification is an asset (Qualification W47.1 and W186)
Completion of a high school diploma.
Certified crane or forklift training is an asset.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
May require working in hot (32C) and cold (-25C) temperatures.
May require walking on terrain that may be uneven, muddy, and slippery.
Exposure to dust, cement powder, water mist or vapor. While performing the duties of this job you are regularly required to stand for extended periods of time, lift, climb, push-pull, kneel, crouch, twist, bend, and stoop. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs frequently. Hours Of Work
8 hours a day, Monday to Friday. Working hours are subject to change based on business needs.
Must be available to work weekends as required by the business needs.
Must have a willingness to work overtime as required.
