Position Title :
Utility/ STEWARD
Reports to:
Executive Chef
Job Summary :
The utility position is to assist in enforcing the highest possible cleanliness and hygiene standards in all food processing facilities and on operating equipment. Main responsibilities include dish room operations, back area cleaning, and equipment maintenance.
Job Responsibilities and Standards:
The following description of job responsibilities and standards is intended to reflect the essential functions of the position. This outline does not detail every aspect of the position, and there may be other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Job Specifics:
Maintain sanitation, cleanliness, hygiene, and the quality level of products and services. Ensure Back of House areas are maintained to the highest cleanliness standards, and cleaning schedules are followed and completed. Ensure water temperature and chemical levels are appropriate for cleaning. Assist with Banquet plate-ups and buffet by transporting and ensuring adequate stock. Assist Chefs and kitchen staff with various tasks as needed. Check more specifically the proper use of chemicals and washing accessories. Assist in establishing minimum and maximum operating par stocks and supplies, and approve storeroom requisitions.
Qualifications:
Valid U.S. Driver’s License. Valid TB Clearance Card.
Physical and Mental Requirements of the Job:
Must be able to work flexible hours, work evenings, weekends and holidays. Excellent communication skills Able to stand on your feet for extended periods of time Able to work under pressure Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds Customer Service Responsibility: Ensures that the club's customer service standards are maintained at an exceptional level. Presents self in a professional manner, including appearance, identification, and general communication and conduct at all times. Makes a positive contribution to the work environment through presentation of a positive attitude, demonstration of cooperation and teamwork, and a constructive approach to daily events. Listens effectively, responds to guests’ requests in a friendly “can-do” manner.
Dependability : Attendance : Adheres to the established work-hour schedule. Follows established procedures for early notification to supervisor when unable to report to work. Call a manager 30 minutes before the shift starts to avoid an improper call-in. Punctuality : Arrives at work on time and works until authorized to leave. Attends all mandatory education/in-service programs and demonstrates understanding of responsibilities through appropriate actions. Demonstrates effective communication by utilizing positive verbal and non-verbal skills in all interactions. Must be able to work a flexible schedule and extra hours when needed.
Safety: Demonstrates adherence to the club's safe practice procedures and makes recommendations to improve safety. Reports any unsafe work practices to the supervisor. Consistently utilizes proper body mechanics in performance of responsibilities, as evidenced by supervisor’s observation and no injury to self or others due to improper work habits. Follows proper reporting procedures when injured at work. Is aware of the location of material safety data sheets and refers to them when necessary.
Other Duties :
Assist with any special project as assigned by management.
