G&amp;H is recognised as the preferred source for OEMs in the life sciences, industrial, and aerospace and defence industries, with a history of quality and excellence that dates back over seventy-five years.</p><p><br></p><p>G&amp;H optical fibre components can be found being used on the moon, the International Space Station as well as the bottom of the world's oceans.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>At G&amp;H Torquay, we're one of a number of global technology leaders that form the Torbay Hi-Tech Cluster, bringing a concentration of expertise and innovation in photonics and microelectronics to the South Devon region.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p><strong>JOB PURPOSE</strong></p><p>· Support manufacturing to improve yields, RFT and reduce downtimes, whilst maintaining high quality standards.</p><p>· Process, manage and reduce product on hold, ensuring product flows back into production effectively and raising training and process corrective actions when required.</p><p>· Support and facilitate continuous improvements by identifying areas of deficiency, recommending/implementing appropriate changes in training, working practices and processes for the department.</p><p><br></p><p><strong>RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p><ul><li>Provides technical support to production.</li><li>Supports the technical issue escalation process from manufacturing, with the appropriate level of on hand shop floor support in each production area.</li><li>Participates in process improvement strategy to reduce waste, reduce lead times, improve yield and reduce product costs, utilising CI and Lean practices in conjunction with the CI engineer.</li><li>Evaluates on hold material on daily basis, ensuring any parts which cannot be dealt with immediately have an action and owner.</li><li>Resolves issues with manufacturing when product quality risks are identified.</li><li>Provides support to Engineering projects, business projects and the RMA process.</li><li>Supports the training of new and existing processes, raising training and process corrective actions with manufacturing when required.</li><li>Monitors and report yields, offers ideas and solutions for improvements.</li><li>Completes agreed standard work daily, weekly and monthly.</li><li>Identifies best practice and introduces it to the rest of the line.</li><li>Ensures first line equipment checks and preventative maintenance are completed on time and in full.</li><li>Performs all job duties within ISO and AS standards, regulatory or statutory requirements.</li><li>Maintains a safe working environment, performs all job duties in a safe manner whilst complying with all G&amp;H policies and procedures.</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>SPECIALIST FUNCTIONAL KNOWLEDGE</strong></p><ul><li>Use of Syspro (or equivalent) and legacy business systems</li><li>Understanding of Lean Manufacturing techniques</li><li>Awareness of documentation structure</li><li>General computer literacy</li><li>Understanding of KPI metrics</li></ul><p><br></p><p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS &amp; EXPERIENCE REQUIRED</strong></p><ul><li>HNC in Engineering or Mathematics based subject desirable</li><li>Experience in a technical production environment</li></ul><p><strong>G&amp;H BENEFITS</strong></p><ul><li>25 days - rising up to 30 days annual leave (phased with long service)</li><li>Corporate Cash Plan</li><li>Salary Sacrifice Pension Scheme</li><li>Enhanced Employee Assistance Programme</li></ul><p><em>Notes: This job description is not intended to be exhaustive in every respect, but rather to clearly define the fundamental purpose, responsibilities and dimensions for the role.
