Responsibilities
Schedule:
Sunday – Saturday from 0600-1800 hours, including holidays
Core Duties:
• Provide full spectrum of occupational rehabilitative services under the plan of care of a credentialed provider.• Use assessment tools, intervention techniques and treatment modalities under the plan of care of a credentialed provider.• Use complex/multi-step instructions with patients, caregivers, and other health care professionals and adapt those instructions according to the learning styles of the trainees or individuals receiving the instructions.• Identify, recommend and fabricate, as needed, complex adaptive and assistive devices, durable medical equipment and complex dynamic splinting, after consultation with the occupational therapist.• Carry out a program of therapeutic activities and treatments for assigned patients, as directed by the Occupational Therapist. Under supervision, administer treatments such as therapeutic exercises, activities of daily living (ADL/IADL) training, sensory integration techniques, various innovative technologies and the application of physical agent modalities (e.g., hot packs, cold packs, paraffin).• Instruct, motivate, and assist patients and caregivers to learn and improve functional activities, including self-care, home management, and community reintegration skills.• Observe patients during treatments, compile and evaluate data on patients' responses to treatment and progress, and report orally or in writing to the supervising therapist to include treatment progression and developing discharge activities as directed.
• Fit patients for, adjust, and train patients in the use and care of orthotics (splints), prostheses, and adaptive supportive devices, such as dressing aids, reaches, and specialized utensils.• Provide technical supervision to students, training staff and volunteers. Ensure adherence to American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) guidelines, National Patient Safety Goals, and JCAHO standards.• Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly clinic environment. Serve as a departmental representative at meetings as needed. Maintain clear and open communication with providers to ensure appropriate patient care.• Maintain a patient care schedule at least six weeks in advance. Comply with all departmental and command policies and procedures, including emergency plans and safety protocols.• Confer with members of the occupational therapy staff and other health team members, individually and in conferences, to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs. Coordinate with other departments and the clinic staff to provide complete care to patients.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications :
• Degree: Associate degree for Occupational Therapy Assistant. • Education: Graduate from a college or university accredited at the time of graduation by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education • Experience: One year of experience within the last two years as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.
• Certification: Certified through the National Board of Certified Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).
• License: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as an occupational therapy assistant
• Life Support Certification: Possess a current AHA OR ARC BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
• Security : Must possess ability to pass a Government background check/security clearance.
Pay Scale: $40.86 - 41.00 per hour, to be determined based on qualifications, experience, and location.
