Description

Salary: USD 27–35 Description Amprius has an immediate opening for Quality Technician (Cell Manufacturing)!  The Quality Technician is the primary guardian of quality on the production floor. This is an active, 100% shop floor role designed for a high autonomy expert who thrives in a dynamic manufacturing environment. This role will operate with an "inspect, diagnose, and repair" mindset, spending your day on the manufacturing floor providing real time guidance to production operators. This role will be responsible for identifying defects, driving root cause investigations, and managing the non conformance (NCMR) process from identification to final disposition. This role is ideal for a self motivated professional who can leverage their deep battery manufacturing knowledge to build and refine quality standards in a rapidly evolving production setting. This is a 3 month TEMP to FTE role. Job Responsibilities Act as the quality expert on the floor, providing real time technical coaching and quality guidance to production operators based on your cell manufacturing experience. Execute rigorous inspections across the production lifecycle, including incoming raw materials (IQC), in process/in line inspection (IPQC), and final cell testing (OQC); this includes OCV/IR checks and final product verification. Own the end to end non conformance process by logging, tracking, and leading Material Review Board (MRB) activities to drive rapid and efficient material disposition (Scrap, Rework, or Use As Is). Drive the implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA) by personally verifying that root cause solutions are physically sustained at the station level and validated through rigorous audits. Leverage your manufacturing expertise to help define, document, and streamline new quality procedures and standards as the production line scales. Author and issue Quality Alerts to ensure the entire production team is immediately aware of emerging trends, defects, or critical process updates. Support the broader team by maintaining training acknowledgement records, assisting with inventory organization, and coordinating site calibration activities to ensure all measurement tools are in service. Monitor the manufacturing environment to identify potential risks—such as equipment drift or material variance—and proactively collaborate with Engineering to mitigate these risks before they impact yield. Utilize dashboards and physical "line walks" to anticipate quality risks and provide proactive feedback to the Production and Engineering teams. Support Engineering trials, new line validations, and PFMEA activities to mitigate risks. Requirements Qualifications 4 5 years of experience in quality control within a high volume manufacturing environment. Direct experience in Cell or Battery Manufacturing is strongly preferred. High proficiency with precision tools including calipers, micrometers, multimeters, and specialized testing equipment (Keyence or CMM experience is a plus). Proven ability to operate as a self starter, using technical intuition and industry knowledge to navigate complex production challenges with minimal supervision. Preferred: Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams. Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or IATF 16949 frameworks (specifically FMEA, APQP, and PPAP concepts). A natural curiosity to investigate "why" a failure occurred and a drive to implement permanent solutions. Excellent verbal communication skills for operator coaching and disciplined record keeping skills. Ability to support weekend operations and provide ad hoc coverage as dictated by production schedules and mission critical deadlines. Willingness to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast paced start up environment. Education, Certifications, Experience Associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field; equivalent military or technical trade school experience also highly valued. Preferred: ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or equivalent professional certification. Preferred: Lean Six Sigma Green or Yellow Belt; experience with 8D or 5 Why root cause methodologies. Preferred: Familiarity or certification in IATF 16949 or ISO 9001 internal auditing Physical Demands & Work Location: Fremont, CA: This is an on site job. Reliable commute or planning to relocate before starting work is required. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks. Manual dexterity to handle small components and delicate inspection tools. Capacity to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds. Adhere to safety protocol and use personal protective equipment (PPE) including, but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, respirator and safety shoes. Work Schedule: 5 days x 8 hour every week. Shift timings from 9am to 5:30 pm Flexibility to support operations is required and may include early morning, evening, weekend, or extended working hours. Benefits Wage Range: $27 to $35/hour Health benefits include medical, dental and vision coverage.  Medical options of HMO and PPO plans. Employer funded Health Reimbursement Account (HRA). HSA compatible Medical Plan, FSA Options. Pet Health Insurance (dog & cats) Traditional and Roth 40l(k) Plans Generous vacation leave starts with 3 weeks annual accrual. 10 paid holidays. Sick time off. Cell phone reimbursement Amprius Technologies is committed to promoting an equal employment opportunity workplace environment and is an equal opportunity employer.
