    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Thompson Greenspon</span>, a mid-sized CPA firm ranked as a Top Workplace by the Washington Post for many years, seeks an experienced audit or tax professional with a nonprofit background to lead the firm’s Form 990 practice as a <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Nonprofit Services Manager</span>.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Key Responsibilities:</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Process Ownership &amp; Workflow Management:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Own and manage the Form 990 process across the firm</li>\n<li>Monitor and ensure timely completion and accuracy of:\n<ul>\n<li>Form 990, 990-EZ, 990-T, 990-PF, and 1120-POL filings (and state returns, where applicable)</li>\n<li>Extensions and estimated tax payments</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li>Coordinate workflow across staff to meet internal and external deadlines</li>\n<li>Identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements</li>\n<li>Maintain visibility over all engagements and proactively escalate issues</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Review &amp; Technical Oversight</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Identify and resolve complex technical issues, including:\n<ul>\n<li>Public support tests</li>\n<li>Unrelated business income (UBI) considerations</li>\n<li>Excise taxes</li>\n<li>Private foundation compliance</li>\n<li>State filing requirements</li>\n<li>Serve as the primary reviewer before partner-level review</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Client Service &amp; Communication:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Serve as a key point of contact for 990-related questions</li>\n<li>Communicate filing requirements, deadlines, and issues clearly to clients</li>\n<li>Proactively identify opportunities to improve the client experience</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Staff Development &amp; Training:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Train and coach staff on Form 990 (and related returns) preparation, technical concepts, and review</li>\n<li>Develop training materials, tools, and standardized best practices</li>\n<li>Review staff work and provide actionable feedback to improve quality and efficiency</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Process Improvement &amp; Advisory Mindset:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Standardize 990 processes, templates, and review procedures</li>\n<li>Implement best practices to increase realization and efficiency</li>\n<li>Identify trends across clients and communicate insights to partners</li>\n<li>Support the focus on advisory by helping staff understand the \"why\" behind the numbers</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Practice Growth &amp; Client Development:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Leverage Form 990 insights to identify advisory opportunities and help clients strengthen governance, transparency, and financial reporting.</li>\n<li>Collaborate with partners and managers across audit, tax, and CAAS departments to support coordinated approach to client service and growth</li>\n<li>Participate in proposals, presentations, and client discussions as a Form 990 subject matter resource</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Qualifications:</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Active CPA License</li>\n<li>7+ years of experience working in tax and/or auditing</li>\n<li>Background in non-profit Form 990 work</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Why Join Thompson Greenspon?</span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Thompson Greenspon is proudly independent and personally invested. </span></p>\n<p>As the accounting profession experiences rapid consolidation and private equity investment, our firm remains proudly independent, because our strength comes from the relationships we build, not from outside ownership.</p>\n<p><br>Staying independent means our decisions are guided by what’s best for our clients and our team, not by investors or quarterly returns.
