    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>SRI International has an opening for a <strong>Technical Project Manager</strong> with experience running research projects on time and within budget. They will partner closely with Principal Investigators to lead collaborative teams to support the development of state-of-the-art mechanical and electromagnetic systems. Relevant technology types include RF and optical materials, photonic computing systems, robotic automation, sensors and signals, and novel mechanical drive systems. We offer a hybrid work schedule, with 3 days onsite and 2 days from a home office.</p>\n<p>You will:</p>\n<p>Work independently to routinely deliver high quality results.</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Interact successfully with both technical and business focused teams.</li>\n <li>Approach challenges with a solutions-based mindset and master new tasks quickly.</li>\n <li>Thrive on open collaboration and intellectual curiosity.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>This position is within the Advanced Technology and Systems Division (ATSD) Project Management Office (PMO). The division advances the state of the art in diverse areas such as radar and electronic warfare; novel imaging technology; robotics; quantum sensing and metrology; marine technology; energetic materials, and applied optics. Check out our work!</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Employ techniques to define, plan, organize, schedule, budget, manage and close out R&D focused projects.</li>\n <li>Manage critical projects with highly technical content and customer involvement.</li>\n <li>Lead teams of engineers from several technical disciplines. Provide technical cognizance as needed.</li>\n <li>Lead writing of programmatic content for proposals. Provide technical cognizance as needed.</li>\n <li>Work with customers to close follow-on efforts or options contracts.</li>\n <li>Manage subcontractors or coordinate with prime contractors.</li>\n <li>Manage project milestones and deliverables. Track performance and delivery of subcontracts.</li>\n <li>Assess and mitigate project risks and manage project issues.</li>\n <li>Analyze project finances. Maintain cost reports and forecasts.</li>\n <li>Consult with PMO and engineering teams to coordinate project resources and staff.</li>\n <li>Assess project performance and present status at internal and external program reviews.</li>\n <li>Setup Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) in an Integrated Master Schedule (IMS) with Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or other scheduling and WBS software.</li>\n <li>Track performance and delivery of subcontracts within an IMS.</li>\n <li>Compose diagrams, swim lanes, and business process flow charts in Microsoft Visio.</li>\n <li>Work collaboratively with cross functional teams to resolve technical and procedural issues.</li>\n <li>Lead the preparation and submission of technical reports.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li><p>B.S. in a technical field (i.e., engineering, systems engineering, math, or science).</p></li>\n <li>U.S. Citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance.</li>\n <li><p>5+ years’ experience actively conducting program/project management.</p></li>\n <li>2+ years’ experience with US Government contracts, ideally DoD, with an understanding of full lifecycle contract development and procurement.</li>\n <li>Proven experience in relevant a technical area, including mechanical, electrical, software, systems integration.</li>\n <li>Proven experience managing projects with program/project management software (Microsoft Project, Smartsheet etc).</li>\n <li>Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Documented ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>DESIRED</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience working with Special Access Programs (SAPs).</li>\n <li>Experience with NSF Mid-scale Research Infrastructure.</li>\n <li>Experience with Systems Engineering principles and techniques including project lifecycle, requirements management, and system traceability.</li>\n <li>Experience with Agile, Earned Value Management, or other project management methodologies is a plus.</li>\n <li>Working knowledge with Costpoint, Workday/Adaptive, or similar management information systems.</li>\n <li>Adept with Microsoft Office tools (Visio is a plus).</li>\n <li>Excel power user: Lookups, Tables & Charts, Pivot Tables, Index & Match, Multi-Cell Formulas, Named Ranges, Conditional Formatting, Data Validation (VBA and Macro authoring is a plus).</li>\n <li>Certification in Project Management or desire to obtain certification is preferred.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>The salary range is as follows: Ann Arbor, MI & Menlo Park, CA - $102,400-$135,650; Princeton, NJ, Boulder, CO & Arlington, VA - $92,160-$122,112. Salary ranges will vary and are based on several factors, including geographic location, market competitiveness and equity amongst internal employees in similar roles. Positions may also qualify for SRI's Pay for Outstanding Performance program or the annual Performance Based Compensation program.
