Career Opportunity We have an immediate need for a full-time Deputy Program Manager to oversee the requirements of the Statement of Work at our Wallops Island, Virginia, station. The Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) at Wallops Island requires support in management, engineering, operations, and technical expertise for the activation, operation, maintenance, and engineering of equipment, systems, and computer programs. This support is crucial for all Naval Sea Systems Command and Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems missions and projects conducted at SCSC. SCSC offers live and simulated integrated warfare capabilities in a net-centric maritime environment, aimed at developing, testing, evaluating, and conducting fleet operations and training for the warfighter.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Develops mechanisms for monitoring progress and for intervention and problem solving.• Integrates all functions and activities necessary to perform the project/program to meet customer requirements.• Directs personnel, manage costs, schedules, ensures contract compliance and serves as customer interface.• Monitors project to ensure scope of work, schedule, and budget are well defined and maintained.• Variables in determining contract complexity include technology used, schedule requirements, cost, contract complexity, risk, number and complexity of subcontractors, and customer complexity.• Oversee daily operations and the performance of team members to ensure compliance with company policies and standards.• Supervise and provide guidance to employees, addressing any issues or concerns promptly and effectively.• Approve and monitor employee timesheets, ensuring accurate and timely submission for payroll processing.• Manage team schedules, including approving time-off requests and ensuring adequate coverage during absences.• Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, encouraging teamwork and open communication.• Maintain accurate records of employee attendance, performance, and any disciplinary actions taken. Travel • Occasional travel up to 25%.
Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills, and Abilities Required • Must have a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, scientific, business, or technical discipline.• Must have at least three years’ experience managing a large technical effort, similar in size and scope of this effort.• Must have at least three years demonstrated experience in managing large projects including ability to plan, develop schedules, organize, and coordinate team members to accomplish assigned tasks; demonstrated experience specifically directed to combat systems facilities related to AEGIS, AEGIS BMD, or SSDS weapon and combat systems and technology development, work breakdown structures, spending plans, and financial tracking.

Qualifications • Active DoD Secret security clearance is highly desired; however, candidates eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance will be considered. The selected candidate will receive a contingent offer if they do not hold an active clearance. A start date will be established once an interim Secret clearance is granted.• Must be a U.S. citizen.• Must maintain the capability to communicate with their supervisor or manager when not in the office.
Physical Requirements • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods.• Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.• Communicating with others to exchange information.• Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.• Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
