Description
The Quality Technician / Inspector supports manufacturing operations by performing inspections, managing nonconformances, and applying practical quality tools to ensure products meet engineering specifications and customer requirements. This role is hands-on and collaborative, with a strong focus on problem-solving, data-driven decisions, and continuous improvement.
This position is located in Opelika, AL. 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
Key Responsibilities
Perform incoming, in-process, and final product inspections Develop and maintain product-specific inspection plans and quality documentation Administer Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), including investigation, documentation, and follow-up actions Apply quality tools to identify root causes, trends, and corrective actions Partner with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain to resolve quality issues Support production teams with inspection methods, measurement techniques, and quality metrics Create, update, and maintain work instructions for critical manufacturing processes Accurately record inspection results and prepare quality reports for management review Quality Tools & Methods (Working Knowledge Expected)
Root Cause Analysis (5 Whys, Fishbone/Ishikawa) Statistical Process Control (SPC) Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) Control Plans and basic PPAP concepts Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) Use of quality data to track trends and drive improvement Qualifications
Required:
High school diploma or GED 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing quality or inspection role Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications Experience using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) Strong attention to detail and documentation skills Preferred:
Technical degree or quality-related training/certification (ASQ, CQI, etc.) Experience working within a formal Quality Management System Automotive, performance, or manufacturing industry experience Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Manufacturing and office environment Frequent standing, bending, and handling of parts Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. occasionally Moderate noise levels What Success Looks Like
Consistent, accurate inspections and documentation Timely resolution of nonconformances Effective communication with cross-functional teams Active participation in continuous improvement efforts
