Rogue Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative headquartered in the Rogue Valley located in beautiful southern Oregon. Providing services to our members in select Oregon, Idaho and California counties. We strive to make an impact in the communities we serve by living, giving, and supporting local. Our mission is to provide exceptional member experiences that build mutually beneficial relationships to create the most loyal members in the nation. Here at Rogue, we believe in having a culture of happy team members who feel supported, have the chance to grow their careers, and LOVE where they work!
Role : The Analytics Data Engineer builds and maintains the trusted data used for Rogue Credit Union's analytics, reporting, and decision making. Working closely with the Analytics Semantic Architect, this role turns approved business definitions and rules into reliable, well-organized data assets that can be used across the organization with confidence. The Analytics Data Engineer 2 can operate with a great degree of independence, and contributes to the design, optimization, and reliability of data products while applying industry best practices. The role also provides informed input that supports the ongoing development and maturity of data management practices within the Analytics function.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities :
45% Design, build, and maintain scalable master reporting data assets that support enterprise analytics and reporting needs. Translate approved business definitions and rules into optimized data models and transformations, independently selecting appropriate implementation approach based on performance, usability, and maintainability. Develop data assets using platform capabilities including dataflows, pipelines, SQL, notebooks, views, and distributed processing frameworks. Continuously refine and improve existing data structures to enhance performance, and alignment with evolving enterprise needs.
20% Design and implement robust data validation, reconciliation, and monitoring processes to ensure completeness, accuracy, and reliability of analytics data. Proactively identify, diagnose, and resolve complex data issues including those impacting production systems. Participate and potentially lead triage and remediation of data incidents, including readiness to support issue resolution outside of standard business hours when necessary to maintain critical reporting and operations.
15% Serve as a subject matter expert in analytics data engineering practices, applying industry best practices to inform and strengthen Rogue’s data management processes. Provide guidance and recommendations on data modeling, transformation design performance optimization, and platform capabilities. Contribute to the development and refinement of engineering standards, helping establish consistent, scalable, and maintainable approaches across the analytics function and potentially in coordination with non-analytics Rogue functions.

Ensure metadata including lineage, definitions, and ownership is accurately reflected in analytics tools and aligned with the analytics catalog and governance standards.
5% Proactively performs other related duties as needed or assigned.

Education : (1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g., information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).
Interpersonal Skills : Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is of a personal or sensitive nature. Motivating, influencing, and/or training others is key at this level. Other Skills : Demonstrates advanced SQL proficiency and experience building data transformations using pipeline or notebook-based tools such as Python, PySpark, Spark SQL, Scala, or similar technologies. Possesses strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify, diagnose, and resolve data issues, along with a high level of attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and reliability. Effectively documents transformation logic, data lineage, and dependencies, and communicates clearly while collaborating with architects, analysts, and business stakeholders. Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving technical environment, with a willingness to learn new tools and engineering methods as platforms mature. Applies disciplined engineering best practices, including testing, version control, and change management.
