Healthcare RN - Operating Room FT days Visa Candidates Welcome to apply SUMMARY The RN IIB is a staff nurse, who as an advanced clinician functions at the Proficient level according to our model of clinical practice. The RN III provides direct patient care and is considered an expert in a specialty. The RN III assists in coaching and mentoring department staff in areas of clinical and professional practice. The RN III assumes leadership responsibilities with high level contributions at the bedside, unit, service line, and across the institution. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to leading unit and shared governance activities, serving as charge nurse, assessing unit needs related to practice and improvement opportunities, coordinating unit education and serving as a clinical resource for both unit and hospital staff. LEADERSHIP a. Provides care as the staff nurse leader to complex patients and leads the interdisciplinary team in implementing plan of care. (Quality/Safety) b. Identifies, presents, and leads areas for improvement in patient care or unit operations and works in collaboration with teams to provide solutions by participating in unit projects and shared governance activities. (Growth/Innovation) c. Identifies leadership opportunities for professional growth of unit staff, provides coaching to meet identified goals. (People) d. Contributes to oversight of staffing and patient care resources; participates in decisions impacting operational and capital needs. (Finance) e. Develops and updates plan of care in partnership with the patient and family; mentors others regarding specialty populations; audits plan of care. (Service) b. Advocates for patients and families in preventing/resolving clinical or ethical issues; develops supportive unit practices and guidelines. (Service) d. Contributes to meeting departmental target for patient satisfaction on unit-based scorecard. (Service) 3. CLINICAL JUDGEMENT/CRITICAL THINKING a. Demonstrates highly developed assessment, clinical, documentation, and analytical skills; integrates and contributes to professional practice standards, policies, procedures, protocols. (Quality/Safety) b. Plans for routine events and anticipates/prevents and resolves emergent situations. (Quality/Safety) c. Contributes to meeting departmental targets for quality and safety measures on unit-based scorecard. (Quality/Safety) 4. COMMUNICATION a. Communicates in an active, positive and effective manner to all health care team members; mentors other staff in effective verbal, non-verbal and written communication. (People). b. Ensures that self and other staff members promote effective and efficient communication with patients and families, using a structured format such as hourly rounding. Acts as a mentor and role model to staff members regarding effective communication. (Quality/Safety). c. Performs as a role model and mentors other staff/team members in developing therapeutic relationships with patients and families. (Service). 5. TEAMWORK a. Manages assignment of complex patients and other unit demands. (Quality/Safety). b. Supportive of change initiatives. Adapts to unexpected changes. Acts as effective change agent. (Growth/Innovation). c. Anticipates needs of other team members; proactively offers assistance. (People). 6. SAFETY a. Reports ¿near misses¿ as well as errors promptly and consis10tly to improve systems and processes and identify trends. Role models situational awareness, using teachable moments to improve safety. (Quality/Safety). b. Recommends and leads improvements in patient safety-related processes at unit or service line level. (Quality/Safety). c. Audits adherence to unit and hospital initiatives such as National Patient Safety Goals. (Quality/Safety). 7. EVIDENCE-BASED PRACTICE/RESEARCH a. Reads and leads critique of evidence-based practice literature in nursing and related disciplines. (Innovation/Growth). b. Identifies opportunity for practice changes. Researches the change and presents solutions to shared governance and leadership. Leads the change and performance improvement initiative. (Quality/Safety). c. Contributes to development of service line and hospital standards and guidelines; implements and monitors service line initiatives that improve designated core measure compliance. (Quality/Safety). 8. STAFF EDUCATION a. Expands own nursing knowledge and serves as instructor in continuing education or formal program and expert consultation; coaches staff to grow in knowledge, abilities, skills, and attitudes. (Growth/Innovation). b. Mentors students, provides oversight for student/new employee preceptorships. (People). 9. PROFESSIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS a. Maintains level of professional contributions as defined in Clinical Career Path program guide. 10. Demonstrates the componets of the ICARE values statement. 11. Demonstrates SERVICE PRIDE standards. 12. Follows all safety rules while on the job. Reports accidents promptly and corrects minor hazards. 13. Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelors Degree required 10 CEU`s annually (5 within specialty). EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS At least 3 years` experience required, with 1 year in specialty CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED Registered Nurse with current Texas license Basic Life Support (BLS). Other certifications as required by unit/service Magnet Recognized Certification in applicable clinical specialty SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED 1. Must be able to perform skills and competencies as defined in orientation checklist and annual departmental competency checklist if applicable. 2. Basic computer skills. 3. Must be able to write and speak effectively in English. 4.
