JOB SUMMARY: The Medina Office Clinical Intern position is reserved for graduate students who have reached the internship portion of their Master’s programs and have secured a formal trainee license, allowing them to perform clinical duties under the supervision of an authorized, licensed field supervisor.  The Medina Office Clinical Intern will have the opportunity for internship experiences and hours within the Child & Adolescent Group Services program, TEAM Alliance School-Centered program, and Intensive Home-Based Therapy (IHBT).  By obtaining hours through various programs, it will allow for clinical experience within home, school, and office settings with individuals, family, and group work opportunities. Work hours are flexible and must be kept below 20 per week.  Some evenings apply. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: The Medina Office Clinical Intern provide the following services, including, but not limited to: Individual and/or group counseling; School and family education; Therapeutic Behavioral Services (Individual skill trainings); Advocacy; Information and referral; Transportation; Alcohol and drug education and prevention; Group work; Crisis intervention; Assessment; and Other services necessary to the enrichment of the internship environment. Formulate goal-oriented treatment plan with a step-oriented process to prevent recurrence of crisis and to stabilize the client. Facilitate therapeutic behavioral services within treatment plan meetings and progress updates with guardians and other treatment providers. Assist in crisis intervention, problem resolution, and process discussions with clients on an assigned and as needed basis. Complete all required trainings and thoroughly maintain all necessary client records. Maintain all required expectations as developed between the graduate program and the student’s field instructor.  Provide advocacy and liaison work with schools, the justice system, social services, health services, and other community agencies as needed. Responsible for timely termination/evaluation of cases. Adhere to Agency/ACS/ NASW codes of conduct and ethics. Adhere to Learning Contract as designed by Student and Field Instructor. OTHER DUTIES: Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on-going training. All required trainings, certifications and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards. Contribute to the development and maintenance of the clinical record through the timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards. Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client’s treatment.  All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material. Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned by management. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Minimum current Master’s student in Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy required. Licensure: Valid Ohio Trainee license (Social Work Trainee, Counselor Trainee, Marriage and Family Therapy Trainee), or higher, required. Skills/Competencies: Core Expertise: Demonstrate strong clinical skills including training and/or classroom experience expertise in therapy, crisis intervention, education, behavioral interventions, and substance abuse therapy. Independent Judgment: Demonstrate ability to perform job responsibilities with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment. Cultural Competency: Demonstrate awareness, sensitivity and skills in working professionally with diverse individuals, groups and communities who represent various cultural and personal background and characteristics. Interpersonal Communication: Communicate clearly using verbal, nonverbal, and written skills in a professional context; demonstrate clear understanding and use of professional language. Professional & Ethical Conduct: Adhere to professional values such as honesty, personal responsibility, and accountability; apply ethical concepts within scope of work and adhere to Agency policies and procedures. Collaboration and Teamwork: Function effectively as a member of a professional team that includes employees, clients and family members. Problem Solving & Decision Making: Recognize problems and respond appropriately; gather information and sort through it to identify and address root cause issues; make timely decisions. Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate competence in utilizing Agency computer systems and software as required to perform intern duties. Experience: Experience working with children, adolescents and their families Other: Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record that meets the underwriting criteria of the Agency’s insurance company as well as access to reliable transportation.
