Description

Ventilation Technician Musselwhite Mine Orla Mining is striving to be the emerging gold producer of choice with a geographically diversified asset base, a prospective development and exploration portfolio, an experienced management team with a successful track record, and a high-quality board and shareholder base. Orla operates the Camino Rojo Oxide Gold Mine, a gold and silver open-pit heap leach mine, located in Zacatecas State, Central Mexico. This low-cost operation is 100% owned by Orla, covers over 139,000 hectares, and includes a large sulphide mineral endowment located beneath the oxide resources. We are also advancing permitting and development on our South Railroad Project, a feasibility-stage, open-pit heap leach project located on the prolific Carlin trend in Nevada. This project is part our larger South Carlin Complex which includes a prospective land package. We recently acquired the Musselwhite Mine located in Northern Ontario on Lake Opapimiskan, a gold mine with more than 25 years of operating history. The addition of Musselwhite has allowed Orla to more than double our gold production and provide a strategic entry into a Tier 1 mining jurisdiction. The Musselwhite Mine is highly prospective with potential to expand resources and mine life for years to come. Orla is building a legacy of excellence, respect and sustainable value through responsible gold mining. We are striving to create a net positive benefit for all and leaving a legacy beyond the life of our mines. We do this through building and operating high quality mines supported and led by an experienced team. We are custodians of the assets we run and the environments in which we operate, and we are committed to fostering a culture of excellence, care, and respect. Purpose The Ventilation Technician will provide direction and technical support to the mine operations to ensure the ventilation systems are designed, installed and maintained in accordance with the Company policies and legislation. This position will report to the Senior Ventilation Engineer. Responsibilities: Conduct weekly underground ventilation inspections and audits, including airflow, temperature, and contaminant monitoring at all active working levels, and monthly inspections of inactive levels. Maintain and update ventilation plans/packages showing fan locations, airflow quantities, operating pressures, primary airflow direction, fire and ventilation doors, hazard barricades, refuge stations, electrical substations, and underground muck pile locations. Identify ventilation deficiencies and issue repair requests to mine operations. Report a summary of weekly ventilation audit to Senior Ventilation Engineer and present to mine planners and operation supervisors. Monitor the performance of the mine ventilation system and provide input for infrastructure improvements and system upgrades. Monitor and initiate repairs to the auxiliary ventilation systems to ensure that regulatory compliance is maintained. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of ventilation testing results and ensure documentation is available to Joint Health and Safety Committee representatives. Review and approve longhole blast plans, providing input on the ventilation requirements necessary to ventilate the blast and ensure a plan is in place for clearing the area. Participate as a member of the emergency response/control group when supervisory personnel are off site. Maintain current knowledge of applicable mining regulations, ventilation standards, and legal requirements. Support the development, coordination, and execution of the weekly ventilation plan. Education and Experience: Technical degree in a mining-related field with specialization in ventilation. Minimum of 2 years of experience in an underground mine (preferred). Understanding mine ventilation systems. Excellent communication skills (oral, written, listening). Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Efficient using, Deswik CAD and Ventsim or equivalent software. Underground survey experience considered an asset. Ability to positively interact with co-workers and team members. Working Conditions: The Musselwhite gold mine in northwestern Ontario is a fly-in, fly-out operation and the schedule for this position will consist of 14 days on and 14 days off, working 12 hours per day. Compensation: The salary range for this position is CAD $98,000 - $109,000 per year, depending on skills, experience, and qualifications. T his role is eligible to participate in the Company’s annual short term incentive program. The target annual bonus for this position is 10% of base salary, subject to individual and company performance.
