Are you compassionate, patient, and supportive? <br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Chimo Youth Retreat Centre</span> is seeking dedicated <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Mentors</span> to support youth in our <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Solo with Supports (SWS) Program</span>.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Position Summary:</span></p>\n<p>Mentors provide direct, individualized support to youth, helping them achieve personal goals, implement behavioural strategies, and thrive in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.</p>\n<p>Many youth in the SWS Program are preparing to transition into adult support systems (e.g., AISH and/or PDD). Mentors play a vital role in supporting this transition and fostering long-term independence.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Mentor Responsibilities: </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide direct support to youth in achieving identified goals </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with youth and families </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Promote social skills, healthy development, and life skills (personal hygiene, routines, independence) </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Model socially appropriate behaviour and encourage community involvement </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Implement behavioural strategies and provide out-of-home family support </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Complete detailed documentation of participant and family communications </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Report and document significant incidents to appropriate stakeholders </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Adhere to agency policies and procedures </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Attend supervision (minimum quarterly), training sessions, and required workshops </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintain ongoing professional development and community professionalism </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Respond to phone messages and emails promptly </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Transport youth using a personal vehicle, when required </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Connect youth and families with appropriate community resources supporting physical, mental, spiritual, and addictions-related well-being </li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Is Your Household Ready? </span></p>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Successful Mentor Homes will provide:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>An unshared bedroom with a legal window</li>\n<li>A safe, stable, and welcoming home environment</li>\n<li>Inclusion of youth as part of household and family life</li>\n<li>Openness to cultural sensitivity, 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion, and Indigenous traditions</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Mentors must also be willing to learn and apply:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Trauma-informed care</li>\n<li>Strength-based approaches</li>\n<li>Indigenous worldviews</li>\n<li>Child and youth development principles</li>\n<li>Attachment-based practices</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Experience &amp; Knowledge (Preferred) </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>ADHD </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Mental health disorders </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Other complex behavioural needs</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Successful Mentors Will: </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be 21 years of age or older and financially stable </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Communicate and collaborate effectively with service teams </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Build strong therapeutic relationships </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Demonstrate strong computer and documentation skills </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Be proficient in spoken and written English </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide three positive references </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Be legally authorized to work in Canada </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Understand challenges related to developmental disabilities, mental health, addictions, attachment, and resource access </li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Required Documentation </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Class 5 Alberta Driver’s Licence </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum three years of insurance history and no “At fault” claims (Provided through a 3 year claims experience letter from your insurance)</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Clean three-year driver’s abstract </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Access to a reliable, insured vehicle </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Alberta auto insurance ($2 million liability coverage) </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Home insurance </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Police Information Check (including Vulnerable Sector) for all household members 18+ (issued within six months) </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Child Intervention Record Check for all household members 18+  (issued within 6 months)</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">The Perks:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Non-taxable income </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>24-hour on-call support during respite placements </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Mentor connection events </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Ongoing training and professional support </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>The opportunity to make a lasting impact in a young person’s life </li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>If you meet the above qualifications and have a passion for working with youth, please email your resume and cover letter to <span><a href=\"mailto:[email protected]\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">[email protected]</a></span>.</p>\n<p> </p>",
