Overview
NV5 is a provider of engineering and consulting services to public and private sector clients, delivering solutions through six business verticals: Testing, Inspection & Consulting; Infrastructure; Utility Services; Environmental Health Sciences; Buildings & Program Management; and Geospatial Technology. Responsibilities
The successful candidate will plan, administer and design mechanical HVAC, energy and plumbing projects
Review work for the application of sound professional judgment and code compliance
Establish and maintain client relationships; ensure client satisfaction; ensure client objectives are met
Responsible for marketing, writing proposals, winning work, maintaining and developing key client relationships
Participate in client-rich professional organizations and functions
Train and mentor young professionals
Perform design and energy calculations and prepare equipment or material specifications
Familiar with the AE design process and specifications leading to construction documents
Prepare graphical representations of designs
Assignments require the investigation of a limited number of variables and supervisory assistance is provided on unusual problems
May supervise or coordinate the work of designers and other technical support personnel
Experience in the design of commercial, industrial, educational, and governmental buildings, small industrial plants and warehouses, central chilled water and heating plants
Experience performing field work, including identification of equipment
Experience carrying project from Notice-To-Proceed through Construction Documents through Construction Administration, including participating in project and review meetings
Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university required
Required Skills and Experience
Minimum of 7 years of mechanical engineering experience with a background in HVAC, plumbing, controls, and energy design. Fire protection design a plus.
A minimum of 2 years experience managing tasks, and small projects
Solid understanding of mechanical design and construction standards
Demonstrated experience in the design of commercial, industrial, educational, and governmental buildings, small industrial plants and warehouses, central chilled water and heating plants
Working knowledge of applicable mechanical, plumbing and energy design codes
Experience in leading mechanical design team thru project
Project Management experience a plus
Licenses and Certifications
NM PE required or obtainable; licenses in other states a plus; Fire Protection PE a plus
Professional registration in New Mexico required or obtainable
Valid NM drivers’ license required; must meet company insurability requirements
