Description
YOUR MISSION AS ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT:
Our mission at RGGC is to prove construction can be an awesome experience for everyone.
As an Assistant Superintendent, you will support project success through hands-on, on-site execution while developing the skills and leadership to run projects independently. You’ll work side-by-side with your Superintendent to maintain RGGC’s commitment to safety, quality, and LEAN construction excellence. You are an extension of our values and culture on every jobsite. Proving construction can be awesome means going above and beyond, but it’s as simple as adhering to our core values.
CORE VALUES THAT GUIDE EVERY DECISION:
DO the right thing
BUILD lifelong relationships
BE FAIR to everyone
SELL performance
ENJOY a work family culture
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Execution & Communication
Must be reliable and follow through on commitments made
Support the Superintendent and Project Manager in driving daily progress and meeting schedule milestones
Actively participate in daily huddles and weekly subcontractor meetings — prepared, engaged, and ready to contribute
Respond to all communications within 24 hours — maintaining our commitment to responsiveness
Build positive relationships with trade partners, inspectors, and project stakeholders through fair, respectful interaction
Communicate field conditions, progress, and issues clearly and proactively to the Superintendent
LEAN Construction Implementation
Embrace and contribute to a continuous improvement culture on every project
Assist with initial drawing scrubs for constructability reviews and flag potential issues early
Conduct regular quality control walks to confirm design adherence and meet RGGC quality expectations
Participate in pull planning sessions with trade partners and help track commitments
Help build and maintain 3-week look-ahead schedules through consistent coordination with trade partners
Implement and maintain our 6S System: Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, and Safety
Support constraint identification and resolution through visual management tools
Safety Leadership
Champion our unwavering commitment to safety — it’s everyone’s responsibility, especially yours
Help lead weekly safety meetings focused on continuous improvement
Collaborate with our safety team on audits, toolbox talks, and best practices
Help maintain site-specific safety plans and ensure 100% PPE compliance
Reinforce a culture where everyone has “Stop Work” authority for safety concerns
Project Support & Development
Study and understand contract documents, specifications, and addenda
Coordinate with trade partners on day-to-day field activities, logistics, and sequencing
Maintain as-built drawings in Procore throughout the project
Support quality control through our 3-stage verification process
Assist in coordinating inspections with precision and preparation
Take ownership of assigned scopes or project areas with increasing independence
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:
Self-starter who sees what needs to be done and does it without waiting to be asked
Demonstrates a genuine desire to learn the business of building, not just show up
Earns the trust of the Superintendent, trade partners, and clients through reliability and follow-through
Keeps a job site that is clean, organized, and reflects RGGC standards before anyone has to say a word
Asks smart questions, takes detailed notes, and doesn’t repeat mistakes
Shows the leadership potential and work ethic to grow into a Superintendent role at RGGC
TECHNOLOGY & TOOLS:
Procore proficiency (or willingness to master it quickly) for project management and documentation
Leading-edge construction technology at your fingertips
Access to Lean Construction Institute resources and training
GROWTH & BENEFITS:
A clear development path toward Superintendent with mentorship from experienced leaders
Work on diverse projects that accelerate your expertise
Supportive leadership that empowers without micromanaging
Paid volunteer time to give back to causes you’re passionate about
Fully covered employee healthcare
401K with company match
Continuing education reimbursement
IDEAL QUALIFICATIONS:
2+ years of field experience in commercial construction
Experience in leadership roles
Ability to read drawings
OSHA certifications (or willingness to obtain immediately)
Exposure to or interest in historic renovation and ground-up construction
Previous experience in carpentry or hands-on building knowledge strongly preferred
Familiarity with LEAN construction practices or a genuine eagerness to learn
Individual sense of urgency to drive progress
Ownership mentality — you treat the jobsite like it’s yours
JOIN A LEGACY OF EXCELLENCE
Since Hurricane Katrina, we’ve proven that construction can be transformative — for our clients, our community, and our team members. We’ve earned multiple “Best Place to Work” awards and two National AGC Build America Awards by living our values every day.
If you’re ready to learn from the best, put in the work, and build a career with a company committed to doing the right thing — not just hand you a title — we want to hear from you.
This job is not for everyone . We have high expectations and a large task ahead: to rewrite the negative narrative about construction by proving construction can be an awesome experience for everyone.
