    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-weight: bold\">Dean of Students</span><br><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-weight: bold\"><em>A full-time, competitively paid position at a first-rate college preparatory school for boys.</em></span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">The <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Dean of Students</span> supports the climate and culture of the school community by helping to create the optimal conditions for teaching and learning. Reporting to the Principal, working closely with the Manager of Climate and Culture, and serving on the Climate and Culture Team, the dean supports the education and development of boys to become men who are successful in college and beyond. More specifically, the dean serves as a culture keeper for the Boys’ Latin mission; enforces the Code of Conduct, assists teachers and administrators with students who are struggling to meet the school’s high expectations; advises students to connect affirmative conduct with academic success; guides students to grow and learn from their mistakes; and employs proven methods of behavioral management, including therapeutic safety intervention, redirections, and positive behavior support.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">The dean will perform the following duties:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">Monitor students during transitions.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">Direct student lunch periods.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">Maintain student safety during morning and afternoon commutes via safety corridors.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">Monitor school climate during extracurricular activities.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">Counsel students struggling with conduct aligned to the Code of Conduct to make better decisions.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">Aid teachers in facilitating classroom environments that are emotionally and physically safe, and conducive to learning.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">Communicate student progress or disciplinary concerns with parents and partner with parents to address concerns.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">Mediate student conflicts and help students reach positive resolutions.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">Partner with the school and parents to provide behavioral and emotional supports and resources to students.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">Enforce the Code of Conduct and serve as a culture keeper of the Boys’ Latin mission.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">Commit to the school’s extended day structure, serving students outside of the regular school day, and supporting the Leadership Academy, Saturday School, and summer academy programs.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">The dean will demonstrate the following competencies:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">Unwavering commitment to the school’s mission of preparing boys for success in college and beyond.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">Desire to continuously learn and increase effectiveness as a professional to drive results among students.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">Willingness to be flexible and go above and beyond to meet the needs of all students.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">Ability to cultivate strong relationships with all members of the school community, including students, parents, faculty and staff members, administrators, and external partners.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino\">Bachelor’s degree.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 14pt; font-weight: bold\"><strong>The Boys’ Latin Way</strong></span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: georgia, palatino; font-size: 10pt\">Founded in 2007, Boys’ Latin of Philadelphia is a college preparatory school across two campuses educating boys in grades 6-12.   The mission of Boys’ Latin of Philadelphia is to prepare boys for success in college and beyond.  Every member of the Boys' Latin community stands as a vital part of the village that nurtures our young men's individual and collective success toward this mission.
