This includes responsibility for competitive success, recruitment and retention of student-athletes, academic achievement, compliance with NCAA and conference regulations, and fostering a positive culture aligned with the mission and values of Tulsa Athletics.</p><p>The Head Coach is expected to lead a program that competes at a championship level while promoting the holistic development and well-being of student-athletes.</p><p><strong>Job Responsibilities:&nbsp;</strong></p><p><strong>Program Leadership &amp; Coaching</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Direct all aspects of the softball program, including practice planning, game strategy, and player development</li><li>Establish and communicate program philosophy, culture, and performance standards</li><li>Develop and implement training programs that maximize student-athlete performance and safety</li><li>Analyze team and opponent performance to inform strategy and development</li></ul><p><strong>Recruiting &amp; Roster Management</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Develop and execute a comprehensive recruiting strategy to attract and retain high-quality student-athletes</li><li>Identify, evaluate, and maintain communication with prospective student-athletes in accordance with NCAA rules</li><li>Manage roster composition, including scholarship allocation and transfer portal strategy</li><li>Foster relationships with high school, club, and junior college coaches</li></ul><p><strong>Student-Athlete Development &amp; Welfare</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Promote academic success, retention, and graduation of student-athletes</li><li>Monitor academic progress and collaborate with academic support staff</li><li>Support the personal, leadership, and professional development of student-athletes</li><li>Maintain an environment that prioritizes health, safety, and overall well-being</li></ul><p><strong>Compliance &amp; Administration</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Ensure full compliance with NCAA, conference, and University rules and regulations</li><li>Promote a culture of compliance and accountability within the program and coaching staff</li><li>Maintain accurate and timely documentation related to recruiting, eligibility, and program operations</li><li>Understand that the Head Coach is responsible for the conduct of all staff and program activities</li></ul><p><strong>Staff Leadership &amp; Program Management</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Hire, supervise, and evaluate assistant coaches and support staff</li><li>Foster a positive and collaborative working environment</li><li>Oversee scheduling, travel planning, equipment, and day-to-day operations</li><li>Prepare and manage the program’s operating budget in accordance with department guidelines</li></ul><p><strong>External Relations &amp; Revenue Generation</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Promote the softball program through community engagement, media relations, and donor interaction</li><li>Support fundraising initiatives, camps, and clinics</li><li>Represent Tulsa Athletics in a professional and positive manner at all times</li><li><p>Collaborate with internal units (communications, development, marketing) to enhance program visibility</p><p>&nbsp;</p></li></ul><p><strong>Minimum Qualifications</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Bachelor’s degree, or related experience required (Master’s preferred)</li><li>Significant collegiate coaching experience, preferably at the Division I level</li><li>Demonstrated success in recruiting and developing student-athletes</li><li>Strong knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations</li><li>Proven leadership, communication, and organizational skills</li></ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Head coaching experience at the NCAA Division I level</li><li>Record of competitive success (conference championships, postseason participation)</li><li>Experience managing budgets and staff</li><li>Commitment to student-athlete academic and personal development</li></ul><p><strong>Required Competencies</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Leadership and program-building ability</li><li>Commitment to compliance and ethical conduct</li><li>Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills</li><li>Strategic thinking and decision-making</li><li>Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-performance environment</li></ul><p><strong>Work Environment / Expectations</strong></p><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li>Requires evening, weekend, and travel commitments</li><li>Ability to work in a fast-paced, competitive Division I athletics environment</li><li>Commitment to the mission and values of the University of Tulsa and its Athletics Department</li></ul>",
