    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">POSITION:  Speech Language Pathologist</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Employment Period: 11 month Position</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education Services</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">This is a position to provide speech and language services for students in the self-contained non-categorical classrooms and general education classrooms. Candidates may be compensated via a defined salary or hourly rate, dependent upon scheduled hours and employment agreement.</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">In addition, it serves students in Pre-K to 5th grade with mild to significant special needs. font-size: 12pt\">Providing high-quality direct speech-language therapy services to students according to IEPs/504 plans.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">Conducting assessments, analyzing results, and writing reports to determine strengths and concerns in areas of speech, voice, fluency, pragmatics, language, and oral motor skills.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">Developing treatment plans (IEPs/504 plans) that are strength-based as well as child and family-centered for overall educational improvement.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">Ensuring evaluations, treatment plans, and service delivery are aligned with school, state, and federal guidelines.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">Assisting and guiding teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language delays/disorders.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">Consulting with teaching teams to develop and implement curriculum modifications and appropriate classroom strategies such as visual supports, oral motor exercises, language strips, topics of conversation, and data collection.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">Ensuring students’ skills are generalized across settings by collaborating with teaching teams and related service providers.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">Completing treatment notes and progress reports in a timely manner and according to school policy.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">Managing a detailed log of services provided and services missed due to student or therapist absences.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">Documenting all aspects of work with students in EasyIEP according to school and state guidelines.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">Communicating and coordinating with the Director of Student Support Services and Special Education Coordinator(s) to ensure the school's mission, philosophy, and procedures are embraced.  </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">Designing and conducting professional development series starting at staff orientation and ending at the end of the school year.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">Designing and conducting training for parents and families.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">Maintaining an inventory of materials, assessments, and supplies.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">Maintaining appropriate, confidential records.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">Keeping abreast of best practices in speech-language therapy and language development.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">Have a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited school of speech-language pathology.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">ASHA certification is preferred.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">Have a current DC DOH license or be qualified for DC licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">Have two years of related experience, preferably with preschool/elementary school-aged children with a range of communication disorders.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">Demonstrate knowledge of current best practices in the area of speech-language pathology.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">Demonstrate effective communication skills and an ability to work with a multidisciplinary team.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"color: rgb(34, 34, 34); font-size: 12pt\">Salary is based on educational level, certification(s), and years of experience. </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Clinical Fellow - $92,000</li>\n<li>Master's plus DC license - $94,300 - $114,895</li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Inter, sans-serif; font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">A $2,000 salary add-on is awarded for passing ACTFL oral proficiency assessment.</span> The successful candidate will be contracted yearly.  Employment will be renewed according to evaluations and staff interest.
