Job Summary
The Senior Analyst, Institutional Research provides leadership for developing, maintaining, and using institutional databases and research information systems to support evidenced-based decision-making, assessments, evaluations, program planning and reviews. Provides advanced analytical support regarding a broad array of subjects and aspects of HCC and is the lead data person in the collection, analysis and reporting of data on students, instructional offerings, and any other aspects of the institution. Will be the lead for designing, implementing, and maintaining the institutional research web dashboards. Acts as a technical resource to other research personnel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Serve as administrator and lead for OIR Information Systems and Reporting Systems.
Serve as a project leader, overseeing the planning, development, troubleshooting, testing and implementation of enhancements to application software systems.
Experience with higher education administrative systems, relational databases, and writing/troubleshooting complex SQL statements.
Develop business practices for the delivery of information including, structure, nomenclature, and scheduling.
Create standards for reports and data analysis.
Identify data quality issues by developing data quality audits, profiling data and resolving data inconsistencies.
Formulate logical descriptions of problems and devise optimum solutions.
Troubleshoot code and data errors and run data traces to diagnose and pinpoint problems; rewrite program to correct errors.
Use analytical reporting tools and SQL to develop, design and test applications.
Provide documentation for all projects and applications including written documentation such as flowcharts and diagrams to describe program development, logic, coding, and corrections.
May train and supervise staff.
Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field required
8 years directly related work experience may be considered in lieu of the degree requirement
5 years of work experience with at least one 1 year in a production PeopleSoft environment required
1 year work experience with data integration and business intelligence preferred
1 year working in a data warehouse environment preferred.
