Description

At the University of Pikeville and Tanner College of Dental Medicine (TCDM), innovation and excellence drive our approach to preparing the next generation of health professionals. The TCDM seeks a dedicated Prosthodontist and Director of the Center for Research and Education in Technology (CRET) at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor to guide predoctoral dental students within our innovative three-year DMD program. This role will advance educational innovation, digital and AI-driven integration, patient-centered interprofessional care, and scholarly activities within a dynamic and mission-driven environment. The faculty member will provide instruction in prosthodontics, restorative dentistry, digital dentistry, and clinical sciences while overseeing CRET operations, including fostering industry partnerships, integrating emerging technologies, and supporting innovation in dental education. Responsibilities: Teaching & Curriculum Development Provide comprehensive instruction in prosthodontics, restorative dentistry, and implant dentistry across didactic, pre-clinical, and clinical settings. Integrate digital dentistry and CAD/CAM technologies into the curriculum, developing innovative teaching strategies, and collaborating with faculty to ensure competency-based student assessments that align with CODA standards. CRET Leadership & Innovation Foster an environment of technological advancement and industry collaboration. Manage operation of the CRET Innovation Center, partnering with dental technology companies and vendors, and piloting new devices, software, and materials. Lead initiatives that promote student and faculty engagement with AI applications, digital workflows, and emerging innovations in oral health. Patient Care & Clinical Supervision Oversee and mentor students in the delivery of patient-centered prosthodontic and restorative care, ensuring quality outcomes and safety. Emphasis will be placed on evidence-based practices, interprofessional collaboration, and recognition of the oral-systemic connection. Guide student in developing clinical competence and ethical decision-making by modeling professionalism and patient-centered values. Scholarly Activity & Research Participate in scholarly activities, including research related to prosthodontics, digital dentistry, oral-systemic health, and salivary diagnostics. Mentor students and junior faculty in research design and execution. Contribute to publications and professional presentations and strengthen the institution’s reputation for innovation and academic excellence. Service & Institutional Contributions Contribute to the broader mission of the University of Pikeville and Tanner College of Dental Medicine through committee service, accreditation activities, and faculty development initiatives. Engage in community involvement and service-learning programs that advance access to oral healthcare in Central Appalachia, reflecting the College’s commitment to education, innovation, and service. Requirements: DMD or DDS degree from a CODA-accredited institution or equivalent. Certificate advanced education in Prosthodontics from a CODA-accredited institution. Possess or be eligible to obtain a license to practice dentistry in Kentucky or faculty limited licensure. Board certification or board-eligible preferred. Previous experience supervising predoctoral dental education students at CODA-accredited institutions is preferred.
