In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Serve as a senior technical liaison between Cummins and OEM partners, ensuring customer needs, product requirements, and integration expectations are clearly communicated throughout new product development programs.
Drive high‑quality product integration by developing technical specifications, guiding design configurations, and ensuring Cummins products are applied correctly across diverse customer applications.
Strengthen product performance and installation quality through the effective use of processes and tools such as Installation Quality Assurance, COLS, Advisor, ALD, and Six Sigma.
Build strong, collaborative relationships with customer technical teams, providing expert guidance on specifications, product changes, installation issues, and advanced technical inquiries.
Translate the voice of the customer into actionable product requirements, influencing program decisions and advocating for customer and market needs during design reviews and development cycles.
Validate prototype machine performance and ensure installations meet Cummins standards, contributing to optimized system performance and reliable field operations.
Lead customer‑focused initiatives, mentor less experienced engineers, and support knowledge transfer to elevate technical capability across the team.
Provide independent leadership on complex components, systems, or projects with significant ambiguity, driving process improvements and shaping technical direction within the functional discipline.
Responsibilities
To be successful in this role, you will need the following:
Apply strong technical expertise in machine integration, product application support, and installation quality to ensure Cummins products are optimized, correctly installed, and aligned with customer performance, reliability, and quality expectations. Demonstrate advanced analytical capability through modeling, simulation, and structured problem‑solving methods to influence design decisions, resolve complex technical issues, and prevent recurrence of product problems. Build trusted relationships with OEMs and internal partners by delivering clear, audience‑specific communication, managing technical discussions, and providing accurate engineering data, documentation, and guidance that support seamless product design and integration. Navigate complexity with sound decision‑making, customer‑focused judgment, and effective resource management while valuing diverse perspectives and consistently driving successful outcomes in dynamic, high‑visibility environments. Education, Licenses, Certifications:

Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.
Experience:
Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making. Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred
Qualifications
Additional Information:
Demonstrate solid understanding of low‑voltage and medium‑voltage switchgear designs, including their functionality and typical configurations. Apply strong knowledge of medium‑sized diesel and gas generator sets (19 kW to 4 MW), along with a foundational understanding of generator set controls. Exhibit proficiency in the features and external control methods of automatic transfer switches used in power systems. Maintain a clear understanding of power system architecture and common components used at the incoming distribution level in industrial and commercial facilities. Interpret and review project plans and specifications accurately to support system design and execution. Utilize experience with system control components in paralleling applications and apply basic capability to interpret Allen‑Bradley and Schneider PLC code. Leverage understanding of industrial communication networks, including hardware and protocols such as Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP/IP, and BACnet, and assist with configuring managed Ethernet switches and applying fundamental Ethernet network principles. Interpret various project drawing types—Elevation, Plan‑View, One‑Line, Three‑Line, Schematic, Interconnect, and Riser—and use AutoCAD Electrical to create or update drawings as needed. Evaluate power system operating sequences, explain system functionality based on written sequences of operation, and anticipate common first‑level failures and their impacts. Apply knowledge of power system protective relaying principles and related hardware to support system integrity and performance. Follow all Cummins safety policies and procedures as well as any site‑specific safety requirements, adhering to the most stringent standards in all cases. Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range.
