Description
Neurotech Pharmaceuticals, Inc. is a private biotech company located in Cumberland, RI and Needham, MA, within the realm of Greater Boston’s vast biotechnology landscape. Since our inception more than 20 years ago, our focus has been on developing and commercializing transformative therapies for chronic eye diseases. The core platform technology, Encapsulated Cell Therapy (ECT), is a first-in-class drug delivery platform designed to slow the progression of chronic eye diseases. Neurotech’s first commercial product, ENCELTO TM (revakinagene taroretcel-lwey), is approved in the United States for the treatment of adults with idiopathic Macular Telangiectasia Type 2 (MacTel). Encapsulated cell-based gene therapy is designed to provide long-term, sustained delivery of therapeutic proteins for the treatment of chronic eye diseases.
Reporting to the Vice President of Market Access, the Senior Director, Access Strategy and Operations will be a key leader within the Market Access team, responsible for leading access strategy, access marketing initiatives and operational execution for Neurotech’s ENCELTO resulting in appropriate patient access.
The role requires a strategic mindset, a collaborative approach, and a strong commitment to building a culture of ownership, accountability, and trust. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing innovative marketing strategies and tactics to engage and facilitate timely and appropriate patient access. Responsibilities will also include managing Market Access operations, which include, HUB process performance, analytics, cross function training and budget process. The role requires deep expertise in U.S. market access dynamics, rare/orphan disease challenges, and cross-functional leadership to translate clinical value into sustainable access strategies.
This position is Remote however, it has the option to be located in Neurotech’s commercial offices in Needham, Massachusetts.
Responsibilities
Market Access Strategy & Execution
Scope, develop and execute promotional payer marketing initiatives to reinforce value proposition to managed care customers: Commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, VA/DOD and IDNs. Develop and execute field reimbursement pull through collateral to educate academic centers, ASC’s, health systems, HCPs and office staff on access and reimbursement process for ENCELTO Collaborate with field reimbursement, sales and marketing to focus on setting access expectations, ways of working and communicating to ensure optimal patient and customer experience. Highly effective cross-functional collaboration is essential to ensure commercial alignment to key strategies and tactics Continuously assess payer policies, coverage trends, and utilization management impacts to support post-approval commercialization. Coordinate strategy and promotional tactics for major industry meetings and conventions. Market Access Operations & Analytics
Manage Market Access operations, including data analytics, budget planning processes, and performance metrics. Coordinate and analyze coverage policies, PSP data, and stakeholder feedback to drive continuous improvement. Lead internal Market Access training initiatives to elevate organizational access literacy and build cross-functional trust. Stakeholder Engagement & Cross-Functional Leadership
Serve as the internal subject matter expert on access-related risks and opportunities, aligning access strategy with brand positioning and patient journeys. Collaborate closely with Field Market Access, Field Sales, Brand Marketing, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, and Patient Services teams.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree strongly preferred. 10+ years of progressive commercial experience within the biopharmaceutical industry, with a focus on specialty, rare, or orphan diseases. 5+ years of dedicated Market Access leadership experience. Proven track record of ensuring market access operational effectiveness including patient services process improvement, CRM implementation, access KPI reporting and cross-functional collaboration with key commercial partners Demonstrated experience in retina or ophthalmology therapeutic areas is highly preferred. Proven track record of supporting successful product launches and post-approval commercialization. Essential experience working with HUB services, reimbursement systems, and specialty pharmacy models. Willingness to travel as needed to support team and business objectives.
