Description

Responsibilities This position is located in Plant 10, Whitehall Casting, and will support the manufacture of Single Crystal and Directionally Solidified product through process control and improvement initiatives specific to the casting process. Job Roles Systems thinker --sees the business and its operation holistically; understands actions and reactions; considers multiple pathways of potential effect before decisions; thinks strategically about interventions with an eye toward scale Optimizer --constantly challenging the organization to work smarter; supports others to ensure they have what they need to do their work successfully Anticipation --looks ahead to minimize potential issues and maximize advantages; prepares others for what comes next Operational accelerator --drives continuous improvement; understands ramifications of automation and other advances; advocates for safety, ergonomics and scalable solutions Organization and structure --works within existing structures while striving to improve and standardize them; provides accurate information; galvanizes others toward common goals Influence --leverages knowledge, relationship, data and perspective to persuade, educate and navigate; gains buy in and adoption of ideas and practices at scale; interacts with a variety of stakeholders Data informed --focused on things that drive quantifiable business outcomes; evaluates based on quantitative feedback; knows and explains the “why” behind actions Prioritized reaction --handles the unexpected without losing sight of important objectives; reacts where greatest leverage points exist Relationship --connects individually and with teams across shifts and practices; builds rapport and commonality; creates a “win together” ethic; serves as liaison between shop floor and engineering; keeps the pulse of the floor; helps people feel heard Job Responsibilities Drive standardization and Process Management using scientific methods and six sigma tools to define the post cast process, develop reaction plans, and reduce cost Close the communication loop between rework, scrap, and engineering along with the source of the problem to drive resolution and reduce cost Ensure development and implementation of new materials and finishing techniques are rooted in six sigma methodology to meet the testing and equipment requirements per BU Manuals Assure meeting of the post cast finishing process MSAT per the BU Post Cast Manual Assure compliance to Customer and NADCAP requirements in the Post Cast areas Act as a conduit between Engineering and Manufacturing to assure that the Post Cast Processes are compliant with the methods, materials, and equipment specifications as required by the BU Manuals, business operating, and customer requirements Coordinate and plan projects and resources with new vendors and customers Write capital requests, purchasing engineering materials, manage cost and control budgets for specific post cast projects and objectives Communicate with other plants on cost savings and scrap reduction projects in Post Cast Update Product Criteria and Activity Instructions as required Approve all new and revised instructions for the Post Cast Area Coordinate operator training as required Qualifications Basic Qualifications BS in Engineering from an accredited institution Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Preferred Qualifications BS in Materials Science, Metallurgical, Electrical, Mechanical, Ceramic, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution Experience in Investment Casting Knowledge of vacuum systems, PLC Knowledge of MS Office, excellent written and oral communication skills, able to work in a self-directed or team environment and have good organization skills Working knowledge of statistical analysis and SPC Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and Howmet Process Management a plus Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities Company Howmet Aerospace Inc.
