    "ExternalDescriptionStr": "<p>Join Strathcona County’s team as a Facility Maintenance Operator II, where you'll play a vital role in ensuring the upkeep and smooth operation of diverse municipal facilities. This position provides routine facility maintenance tasks and tenant services for a variety of Municipal facilities for Strathcona County including community halls, senior centres, County Hall, the Community Centre, the Pointe, Emergency Services, RCMP detachment, and a variety of other recreation facilities.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;</p><p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>This posting is for 1 temporary full-time position until December 31, 2026</strong><br>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Ensure the safe and correct operation of facility building equipment, systems, finishes and environment</li><li>Provide general maintenance service for the tenant and building such as non-trade certificate repairs, snow clearing and site maintenance, and completes assigned work orders and service requests</li><li>Assist Facility Operator III in routine preventative maintenance tasks</li><li>Assist trades people as required to complete minor or major repairs to facilities major systems such as plumbing, electrical and refrigeration repairs and service</li><li>Monitor and adjust building controls as required to maintain comfortable operations</li><li>Assist in the preventative / predictive maintenance work required of HVAC, plumbing and electrical, refrigeration repairs and service</li><li>Maintain preventative maintenance records, manuals and task ensuring efficiencies within the operations of equipment with facilities</li><li>Provide assistance to the event coordinators for the set up and use of the common meeting rooms, aide in the audio/visual set up and take down</li><li>Assist the tenants of the buildings with furniture repairs and office moves</li><li>Proactively provide general maintenance services to the facility ensuring a safe environment for tenants and guests<br>&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications and Skills:</strong></p><ul><li>High School Diploma with a minimum of three years’ experience working in a related work environment</li><li>5th Class Power engineering certificate would be considered an asset</li><li>General knowledge of building systems, including electrical, plumbing, and HVAC</li><li>Excellent skills for building hardware and fixtures</li><li>Ability to sort through mechanical problems and resolve timely and efficiently</li><li>Assemble and maintaining furniture and modular furniture systems</li><li>Ability to work from heights and roofs</li><li>Excellent customer service skills</li><li>Ability to follow safe work practices for work being performance by individuals or service contractors</li><li>Strong understanding of life safety systems, security and building automation</li></ul><p><br><strong>Conditions of Employment:</strong></p><ul><li>Submission of a Satisfactory Criminal Record Check&nbsp;</li><li>Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s licence and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits &nbsp;</li><li>Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties and stand/walk for extended periods of time&nbsp;</li><li>Ability to lift and carry heavy items (75 lbs) and work in awkward or confined areas for extended periods of time</li><li>Ability to work from heights and roofs</li><li>Ability and willingness to perform duties in inclement weather and adverse weather conditions</li><li>Ability to work on an “on call” rotational schedule for emergent and after-hours repairs<br>&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong>Who We Are:</strong><br><br>Strathcona County is a specialized municipality located in the heart of Alberta. &nbsp;Our vision is to become Canada’s most livable community, where our workplace culture and identity are supported by our people plan and values of integrity, respect, safety, collaboration, and accountability. &nbsp;</p><p><strong>Why Join Strathcona County: (depending on position)</strong></p><ul><li>Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, which includes:<ul><li>Extended health and dental coverage &nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Health and wellness spending account &nbsp;&nbsp;</li><li>Life and disability insurance</li><li>Retirement and pension programs&nbsp;</li><li>Earned day off program</li><li>Employee and family assistance program</li></ul></li><li>Commitment to employee development, through internal and external training and development opportunities</li><li>Well-being programs and a safety culture focused on physical and psychological health in the workplace</li></ul><p><br>Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.</p><p>This competition may be used to fill future vacancies for similar positions within the next 6 months. &nbsp;</p><p>Strathcona County is committed to an inclusive, respectful, and equitable workplace that represents the community we serve.
