    "description": "<h2>JOB SUMMARY</h2>\n<p>Position manages, monitors, and facilitates the work responsibilities for departmental and contracted school psychologists, and coordinates the assignments for school psychology intern(s). </p>\n<p>Position supports instructional programs by reviewing reports of team members, mentoring colleagues and supporting professional accountability. </p>\n<p>Position performs specialized psychological work in an educational setting to enable students to achieve optimal learning. </p>\n<p>Position collects, interprets, and synthesizes information about a  student’s sensory motor/perceptual functioning, academic achievement, intelligence, social/emotional adjustment, and significant crises that influence academic and behavioral functioning. </p>\n<p>Position works cooperatively as an interdisciplinary team member to provide services and to devise an appropriate service plan for referred students and their families.</p>\n<h2>MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES</h2>\n<li>Performs casework services with students and families to help resolve student’s behavioral and social </li>\n<li>Selects and administers age appropriate assessment methods and materials in order to determine the needs of the </li>\n<li>Consults with teachers and other school personnel to obtain information regarding the reason for </li>\n<li>Gathers background information on the student’s psychological history by conducting behavioral observations, making home visits, conducting interviews, and reviewing school </li>\n<li>Interprets assessment results and compiles comprehensive psychological assessment reports that address the reason for referral and include appropriate </li>\n<li>Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary assessment team assigned to each school and works as a team member in making placement decisions, developing intervention plans, and planning programs to meet the special needs of </li>\n<li>Communicates case findings and recommendations to teachers and other school personnel as </li>\n<li>Participates in eligibility committee meetings and contributes to the development of Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP) and Individualized-Education Plan (IEP).</li>\n<li>Serves as a resource to teachers and staff regarding psychological services and social/emotional/academic/psychological needs of </li>\n<li>Conferences with and provides information, support, and counseling to parents/guardians of </li>\n<li>Provides in-service training and workshops for teachers and staff regarding mental health issues and proper procedures for the identification and referral of </li>\n<li>Organizes and conducts specialized programs to include parent training classes and student support </li>\n<li>Conducts specialized individual and group counseling sessions to address specific emotional, social, and behavioral needs of students.</li>\n<li>Serves as a liaison between the student, home, school, private counseling facilities and community resources such as social services, court services, and family service </li>\n<li>Provides follow-up support, initial, and periodic re-evaluation services as </li>\n<li>Acts as a member of the school crisis team to provide intervention to students as </li>\n<li>Makes court appearances to present data and performs court-requested </li>\n<li>Compiles monthly reports and maintains accurate case </li>\n<li>Models nondiscriminatory practices in all </li>\n<li>Plans, coordinates and facilitates bi-monthly meetings with psychologists</li>\n<li>Assists the Department Supervisor in planning and conducting department staff </li>\n<li>Maintains adequate and current testing materials required by school </li>\n<li>Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.</li>\n<h2>EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION</h2>\n<p>Required:  Master’s degree and be eligible for a Washington State License as a School Psychologist.</p>\n<h2>SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION</h2>\n<p><strong>Skilled in:</strong></p>\n<p>Excellent communication and time management skills. </p>\n<p><strong>Knowledge of:</strong></p>\n<p>Comprehensive knowledge of school psychology theory, child development, tests and measurements, and crisis management. </p>\n<p><strong>Ability to:</strong></p>\n<p>Keeps abreast of developments and research in the field of school psychology and shares with </p>\n<p>Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Director/Manager of Student Support Services or other appropriate </p>\n<p>Ability to synthesize and interpret diagnostic and assessment data. </p>\n<p>Ability to practically apply assessment, counseling, interviewing, and crisis intervention skills. </p>\n<p>Ability to work cooperatively as an interdisciplinary team member. </p>\n<p>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with community agencies, students, families, team members, and others.</p>\n<h2>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</h2>\n<p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to operate, finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.  </p>\n<p>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.  The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.                        </p>\n<h2>Licenses or Certifications Required</h2>A valid Washington State driver’s license is required at time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe. Washington State License as a School Psychologist is required at time of appointment or at a time set by the Tribe.",
