Description POSITION SUMMARY Under the general supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Bus Driver is responsible for transporting assigned children on routes on a day-to-day basis, extracurricular, i.e., field trips, other designated places, parents, staff. Two (2) bus drivers will be assigned to each Head Start bus with one functioning as the Bus Monitor while not driving. This position is full-time and will also function as a helper to the facilities staff members during school hours when the busses are not in operation. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Transports children to and from the center daily in a safe manner. Transports children to field trips and other designated places. Provides first aid and emergency assistance to children as needed. Cleans windshields, lights, windows, and mirrors daily. Checks emergency door to insure proper operation. Checks horn, tires, lights, and mirrors. Keeps inside and outside of bus clean on a daily basis. Takes bus to the shop for state inspection. Monitors wheel alignment. Keeps bus locked and in a safe place when not in use. Reports all accidents to supervisor and other proper authorities. Completes daily operational data sheets and submits as required. Organizes and submits all invoices. Recruits volunteers and in-kind contributions. Works as an auxiliary facility staff member when busses are not operational. Performs similar job-related duties as assigned. WORK ENVIRONMENT This job operates in a 21 Passenger Head Start Bus to and from a Head Start Early Childcare Center. The role routinely operates a vehicle with several children on board and will also serve as a non-driving monitor of the children. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; lift up to 30 pounds; and reach with hands and arms. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. unless otherwise approved by the Executive Director. TRAVEL Local travel will be required for training / job requirement purposes. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS Minimum High School Diploma 2 Years - Experience Supervising Children Preferred Class C CDL CPR/ First Aid for Adults, Infants and Child Defensive Driving Class, Safety Driving Class (With School System) SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must have strong verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language Must be able to attend night meetings, travel out of area Must maintain a valid driver's license and a clean driving record Must provide Transportation Specialist with an MVR yearly Must maintain yearly physical, drug screening and Tuberculin test must agree to a criminal history background check Must be able to transport children on buses Must be willing to supervise children on buses Abilities Proficiencies AAP/EEO Statement CAFI provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, or genetics. This position is full-time and will also function as a helper to the facilities staff members during school hours when the busses are not in operation.&nbsp;\\n\\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS&nbsp;\\n\\n\\n\\t\\n\\tTransports children to and from the center daily in a safe manner.&nbsp;\\n\\t\\n\\t\\n\\tTransports children to field trips and other designated places.&nbsp;\\n\\t\\n\\t\\n\\tProvides first aid and emergency assistance to children as needed.&nbsp;\\n\\t\\n\\t\\n\\tCleans windshields, lights, windows, and mirrors daily.&nbsp;\\n\\t\\n\\n\\n\\n\\t\\n\\tChecks emergency door to insure proper operation.&nbsp;\\n\\t\\n\\t\\n\\tChecks horn, tires, lights, and mirrors.&nbsp;\\n\\t\\n\\t\\n\\tKeeps inside and outside of bus clean on a daily basis.&nbsp;\\n\\t\\n\\t\\n\\tTakes bus to the shop for state inspection.&nbsp;\\n\\t\\n\\t\\n\\tMonitors wheel alignment.&nbsp;\\n\\t\\n\\n\\n\\n\\t\\n\\tKeeps bus locked and in a safe place when not in use.&nbsp;\\n\\t\\n\\t\\n\\tReports all accidents to supervisor and other proper authorities.&nbsp;\\n\\t\\n\\t\\n\\tCompletes daily operational data sheets and submits as required.&nbsp;\\n\\t\\n\\t\\n\\tOrganizes and submits all invoices.&nbsp;\\n\\t\\n\\t\\n\\tRecruits volunteers and in-kind contributions.&nbsp;\\n\\t\\n\\n\\n\\n\\t\\n\\tWorks as an auxiliary facility staff member when busses are not operational.&nbsp;\\n\\t\\n\\t\\n\\tPerforms similar job-related duties as assigned.&nbsp;\\n\\t\\n\\n\\n\\nWORK ENVIRONMENT&nbsp;\\n\\nThis job operates in a 21 Passenger Head Start Bus to and from a Head Start Early Childcare Center.
