Description The Clinical Lead Advanced Practice Provider Role is to provide accountability for the clinical, administrative and human resources activities for the Advanced Practice Provider Services (APPs) in the NICU, work in collaboration with the nursing leadership of the unit and provide support to the Medical Director. Additionally, will practice in an advanced role and coordinate the delivery of high quality, family/patient centered appropriate patient care within the designated service area. RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides oversight and leadership for greater than 10 APPs or APPs at multiple locations. Oversees regulatory function of the APP role, including monitoring of licensure, credentialing, certification, billing and coding, reimbursement and other regulatory requirements Works with leadership to recruit and hire staff, establishes work schedules, supervises staff performance, participates in performance evaluations, and determines and disseminates quality activities and design for assigned staff. Povide formal and informal clinical instruction, coaching and mentoring on all shifts. Monitors clinical practices and develops programs to incorporate best practice. Develops and monitors individual APP goals for clinical practice and professional development and provides feedback during annual performance review process regarding goal achievement. Completes OPPE/FPPE -Works with the medical director to formulate plan for professional development. Attends educational in-services as appropriate. Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments. Works collaboratively with the NNP leads at other sites to manage NNPs who provide clinical coverage at more than one site. Oversees clinical scheduling for designated areas to ensure adequate patient coverage. Maintains own clinical competencies as required by medical staff privileging. Ensures organizational and medical staff standards of competencies and quality and safety initiatives are met by participating in the competency process through Med Staff and development of policies, procedures, and practice guidelines to optimize APP practice within the institution. Facilitates delivery of safe, effective, and patient/family-centered care that is timely, efficient and equitable. Improves patient care through scientific inquiry and by incorporating evidence-based practice into direct patient care. Will spend 15% of time in administrative duties and 85% of time in clinical duties. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Completion of an accredited Neonatal Nurse Practitioner program or Physician Assistant program. Currently licensed as an advanced practice provider in the state of Georgia by the Georgia Board of Nursing and certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or equivalent body or Certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Requires at least two years of direct experience in neonatology. BLS and NRP certifications are required. NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
