Description POSITION TITLE:   Student Transportation / Autism Behavior Technician (FLOAT) POSITION STATUS:  Non-exempt FUNCTIONAL SUPERVISOR:  Lynx Site Director SCHEDULE: Monday – Friday, 7:45 am – 4:15 pm DUTY DAYS: 177 per full school year POSITION PURPOSE: Transport students in school vans to and from school.    Perform light vehicle maintenance, such as safety checks, fluids, and cleanliness on school vans.  Support students as an Autism Behavior Technician as needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Student Transportation (Primary Role): Safely transport students and operate school vans in all conditions Complete inspections, documentation, and follow safety protocols Support and supervise students’ needs during transportation Follow emergency procedures and maintain First Aid, CPR, and NCI/CPI certification Uphold professional conduct and district transportation guidelines Regular, prompt attendance Van Maintenance Responsibilities: Perform light, routine vehicle maintenance on school vans (e.g., fluids, tire pressure, cleanliness) Report mechanical issues or damage promptly Maintain fuel levels and required van documentation Ensure vans meet safety and operational standards prior to use Autism Behavior Technician (FLOAT) Responsibilities: Provide flexible, direct support to students with autism and behavioral needs across classrooms and settings Implement IEP goals and behavior support plans as directed by licensed staff Support regulation, social communication, transitions, and engagement in learning Provide 1:1 or small-group support and reinforce positive behavior using trauma-informed, PBIS-aligned strategies Ensure student safety during dysregulation using CPI/de-escalation strategies and assist with basic data collection Provide coverage as needed to support staffing and student needs OTHER POSITION RESPONSIBITLIES: Maintain strong communication with parents, staff, and district personnel Model professionalism, safety, and respect in all interactions Remain adaptable and willing to support various school operations as assigned Uphold confidentiality and student privacy Demonstrate initiative, reliability, flexibility, and teamwork Other job duties as assigned Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school degree or equivalent Ability to operate a computer and the software necessary to complete the required job tasks Valid driver’s license/ability to transport students via school vehicle (must have 3 or less moving violations in the last three years and no DWI/DUI convictions within the past 5 years). PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 2 year degree or a minimum of 60 college credits OR successful completion of the ParaPro exam. Knowledge and experience working with students on the autism spectrum and low incidence disabilities. One year previous experience in a middle school or high school setting. Knowledge and experience working with Google Apps.
