The Department of Mathematics and Natural Sciences invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Environmental Science, beginning Fall 2026. This is a campus-based position. Faculty are expected to teach face-to-face courses on campus and be regularly present to support instruction, advising, and departmental responsibilities. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>While the department offers a limited number of online and hybrid courses, these are part of the overall instructional portfolio and do not constitute a remote appointment.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The primary focus of this position is the development and delivery of Environmental Science coursework and the establishment of clear transfer pathways aligned with SUNY and regional four-year institutions. The successful candidate must also be qualified to teach introductory Physical and Historical Geology (lecture and laboratory), which are offered primarily as general education science options.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Teaching Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Teach Environmental Science courses, including introductory sustainability-focused coursework</li>\n <li>Develop additional Environmental Science offerings aligned with transfer and applied pathways</li>\n <li>Teach Physical Geology and Historical Geology (lecture and laboratory) as needed</li>\n <li>Teach introductory Earth Science or related courses, as scheduling requires</li>\n <li>Teaching assignments will be determined by enrollment patterns and departmental needs. Geology courses are offered primarily to support general education science requirements.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Instructional and Programmatic Focus</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Build and refine Environmental Science curriculum aligned with transfer expectations</li>\n <li>Develop pathways that connect environmental science to engineering, applied science, and workforce-oriented programs</li>\n <li>Integrate systems-based and quantitative approaches to environmental topics</li>\n <li>Maintain rigorous introductory geology courses serving a general education population</li>\n <li>Contribute to stable and sustainable growth in environmental science enrollment</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Major Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Teach face-to-face Environmental Science and introductory Geology courses</li>\n <li>Maintain regular on-campus availability for student support and advising</li>\n <li>Provide academic advising focused on transfer readiness</li>\n <li>Develop and revise curriculum aligned with institutional learning outcomes</li>\n <li>Participate in articulation discussions with four-year partners as appropriate</li>\n <li>Assess student learning and participate in outcomes-based assessment activities</li>\n <li>Ensure safe laboratory practices</li>\n <li>Use appropriate instructional technology</li>\n <li>Obtain Quality Matters (QM) certification within a reasonable timeframe if teaching online or hybrid courses</li>\n <li>Participate in departmental, school, and college service activities</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Remote Position</h2>No\n<h2>Min Compensation </h2>USD $61,466.00/Yr.\n<h2>Max Compensation </h2>USD $61,466.00/Yr.\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Master's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Geoscience, Geology, Earth Science, or a closely related field from an accredited university, college or foreign equivalency.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>           OR</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Master's degree in a related discipline with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in Environmental Science or Geology from an accredited university, college or foreign equivalency.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Experience teaching Environmental Science at the college level</li>\n <li>Experience teaching introductory geology lecture and laboratory courses</li>\n <li>Experience developing transfer-oriented curricula</li>\n <li>Ability to connect environmental science to engineering, applied science, or sustainability-focused fields</li>\n <li>Experience teaching in a community college or open-access institution</li>\n <li>Bilingual in English and Spanish.
