applicant will train to become a <strong>Drilling Operator</strong> and act as a backup to drillers, while providing general support with geotechnical drilling to facilitate site sampling, analysis, and investigation.&nbsp;</li><li>Perform a variety of tasks such as inspecting and maintaining drilling equipment and vehicles, logging and packaging samples, gathering appropriate sampling tools, etc.&nbsp;</li><li>May be exposed to hazardous working conditions and inclement weather.</li><li><strong>** A</strong><strong>&nbsp;valid class A or class B Commercial Driver&rsquo;s License is required.</strong><strong>**</strong></li></ul><p><strong><u>Responsibilities</u></strong><strong>:</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Operates a hydraulic crane.</li><li>Utilizes heavy motorized equipment to excavate, backfill, grade, or level soil and aggregate.</li><li>Utilizes heavy motorized equipment to grade surfaces, roll or compact soil and aggregate.</li><li>Leads or trains lower-level equipment operators.</li><li>Assists the Driller in positioning the drilling rig.</li><li>Adds rods or augers to drill.</li><li>Removes core samples from the core barrel.</li><li>Assists in cleaning and maintenance of the drilling rig and related tools and equipment.</li><li>Installs steel piling in pre-drilled holes.</li><li>Cleans the drilling site of debris after drilling is completed.</li><li>Sets and detonates explosive charges for earth removal.</li><li>Makes major repairs to highways, culverts, bridge structures, etc.&nbsp;</li><li>Makes minor mechanical repairs in the field such as changing tires, blades, or filters.&nbsp;</li><li>Responsible for maintaining equipment maintenance including but not limited to cleaning and lubricating equipment and checking fluid levels</li><li>Other duties as assigned.</li></ul><p>&nbsp;<strong><u>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</u></strong><strong>:</strong></p><ul><li>Knowledge of safety practices used in structural steel construction.</li><li>Knowledge of the procedures, techniques and equipment used in the area of assignment.</li><li>Knowledge of the occupational hazards and applicable safety standards and procedures in the area of assignment.</li><li>Knowledge of basic blueprint reading.</li><li>Knowledge of general construction and maintenance practices.</li><li>Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the maintenance, repair and overhaul of gasoline and diesel-powered engines and their components.</li><li>Knowledge of the operation of motor driven equipment.</li><li>Ability to diagnose mechanical problems and determine appropriate procedures for repairs.</li><li>Ability to safely operate basic hand and power tools.</li><li>Ability to read operation manuals, blueprints, and specifications in the area of assignment.</li><li>Ability to operate motorized equipment in the area of assignment.</li><li>Ability to perform skilled trades work in bridge construction and maintenance.</li><li>Ability to operate and maintain highway equipment and attachments.</li><li>Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.</li><li>Ability to maintain accurate records of daily maintenance activities.</li><li>Ability to climb high steel structures.</li><li>Ability to train and work cooperatively with other skilled and semi-skilled workers.&nbsp;</li></ul><p><strong><u>Minimum Qualifications</u></strong><strong>:</strong></p><p><strong>Required Training/Education:</strong></p><ul><li>No formal education required.</li></ul><p><strong>Required Experience:</strong></p><ul><li>(4) years of full-time or equivalent part-time paid experience operating heavy equipment such as bulldozers, end loaders, dump trucks, drillers, etc.<ul><li><u>Equipment Operator Experience Substitutions:</u> Successful completion of an approved vocational school program may be substituted for two (2) year of the required experience in the specified area of assignment.</li></ul></li><li><strong>** A valid class A or class B Commercial Driver&rsquo;s License is required.** (</strong><em>no
