    "description": "<p>Lanes Group Ltd is seeking an experienced and qualified <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Quantity Surveyor</span> to join our Commercial team. This role is key to driving commercial best practice across our utilities frameworks and depot network operations, helping to maximise value while minimising risk and cost.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Working within the fast-paced drainage and utilities sector, you will bring innovative problem-solving skills and the confidence to negotiate effectively across multiple stakeholders. This is a varied role with a broad portfolio, offering exposure across the UK and occasional travel. <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">This is an opportunity that can be based out of Manchester or Leeds.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>We are committed to supporting your ongoing professional development and career progression.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Key Accountabilities</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Accurately value completed works and maintain robust supporting records</li>\n<li>Manage change control processes across main and subcontractor contracts</li>\n<li>Maintain strong client relationships at contract level</li>\n<li>Review and improve commercial processes and recommend enhancements</li>\n<li>Ensure full understanding and application of contractual terms</li>\n<li>Maximise recovery of contractual entitlements</li>\n<li>Use performance data to identify commercial opportunities and improvements</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Key Responsibilities</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide day-to-day commercial and contractual support to operational teams</li>\n<li>Ensure effective contract administration, including cost/value control and record-keeping</li>\n<li>Prepare and submit applications for payment within contractual timescales</li>\n<li>Manage early warnings, variations, and change processes to maximise entitlement</li>\n<li>Produce financial reports and collaborate with operational teams to drive commercial awareness</li>\n<li>Support development of team members within the commercial department</li>\n<li>Manage subcontract accounts</li>\n<li>Undertake travel across UK sites, including occasional overnight stays</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Skills &amp; Experience</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Proven experience in a Quantity Surveyor role</li>\n<li>Minimum 5 years’ experience in utilities or civils (desirable)</li>\n<li>Strong commercial and financial acumen</li>\n<li>Solid understanding of contracts and contract management</li>\n<li>Ability to balance strong client relationships with commercial performance</li>\n<li>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills</li>\n<li>Advanced Excel skills and strong Microsoft Office knowledge</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Qualifications</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>HNC in Quantity Surveying (or similar) – essential</li>\n<li>Degree in Quantity Surveying (or similar) – advantageous</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">In return you will receive:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Company car or allowance</li>\n<li>Ongoing professional development and support</li>\n<li>Diverse and engaging project portfolio</li>\n<li>Opportunity to work within a leading UK utilities and drainage specialist</li>\n<li>24 days holidays plus bank holidays</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">The Lanes Group plc comprises of a range of established service providers subsidiaries, which complement the specialist service of Lanes, by both work type and geography.
