POSITION: Parent Aide REPORTS TO: Site Supervisor or Assigned Supervisor EEOC: Service Worker (9) FLSA: Non-exempt GENERAL DESCRIPTION Will be assigned to a center or other agency facility to aide and support service delivery to children, families, center operations or agency operations. FUNDING SOURCE Neighborhood House Association Head Start/Child Development Program of San Diego County (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS According to assigned location Parents will be selected to do one or more of the following: 1. Nutrition: Assist in the general set-up and clean-up of the center kitchen. Serve prepared food family style to the center children. 2. Operations: General cleaning and organization. Light maintenance tasks. 3. General Office: Organizing, filing, sorting, copying. Light computer work. 4. Warehouse: Stock and maintain inventory. Organize materials so staff can locate items easily. 5. Childcare: Supervise children of Head Start parents/guardians while they attend a meeting/training Provide positive guidance and direction to the children under your care. Promote positive, professional relationships with children, staff and parents. Help maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment. Attend a mandatory orientation on job duties, responsibilities and tasks. Perform other duties as needed. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY Effectively communicate in a manner that children and staff understand. Ability to follow written directions in English. Bilingual skills a plus. Depending on assigned location: Food handling experience, Office experience, Preschool experience a plus. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High school diploma or GED. Units in Child Development a plus. OTHER/SPECIAL Must be at least 18 years of age. Ability to pass a physical examination, tuberculin skin test. Meet the State of California immunization requirement for employees of day care centers, immunization proof against influenza, pertussis and measles. Fingerprint clearance, criminal record, and sex offender registry check required prior to employment. Must have a child currently enrolled within the ECS Head Start or Early Head Start program. PHYSICAL Physical Requirements: Seeing: Must be able to read computer screen and various reports. Hearing: must have capacity to hear and discern sounds. Standing/walking/sitting Climbing/stooping/kneeling/bending/reaching Fingering/grasping/feeling: Must be able to write and use phone

Nutrition:&nbsp;</span></p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">Assist in the general set-up and clean-up of the center kitchen. Operations:</span></p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">General cleaning and organization. Warehouse:</span></p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">Stock and maintain inventory. Organize materials so staff can locate items easily.</span></p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">5. Childcare:</span></p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">Supervise children of Head Start parents/guardians while they attend a meeting/training Provide positive guidance and direction to the children under your care. Promote positive, professional relationships with children, staff and parents. Help maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment. Attend a mandatory orientation on job duties, responsibilities and tasks. Perform other duties as needed.</span></p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\"><strong>KNOWLEDGE,&nbsp;</strong><strong>SKILLS, AND&nbsp;</strong><strong>ABILITY</strong></span></p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">Effectively communicate in a manner that children and staff understand. Ability to follow written directions in English. Bilingual skills a plus. Depending on assigned location: Food handling experience, Office experience, Preschool experience a plus.</span></p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\"><strong>EDUCATION &amp;&nbsp;</strong><strong>EXPERIENCE</strong></span></p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\">High school diploma or GED. Units in Child Development a plus.</span></p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px; font-family: arial, sans-serif;\"><strong>OTHER/SPECIAL</strong>&nbsp;</span></p><p><span style=\"font-size: 18px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,sans-serif;\">Must be at least 18 years of age. Ability to pass a physical examination, tuberculin skin test. Meet the State of California immunization requirement for employees of day care centers, immunization proof against influenza, pertussis and measles.
