Description

Universal Sequencing Technology Corporation (www.universalsequencing.com), a leading NGS technology company engaged in long range/long read sequencing technology and single cell sequencing technology development, is looking for a Director of Clinical Applications to join our team in San Diego. He or she will lead the team to apply cutting edge NGS technologies for clinical applications. Responsibilities • Establish and lead a NGS Clinical Application Development team • Develop strategies to bring NGS technologies into clinical applications and products • Identify clinical needs and market opportunities to develop IVD assays using linked read and/or single cell sequencing technologies • Identify and establish collaboration with CLIA labs or IVD partners • Manage projects/programs and coordinate efforts from multidisciplinary teams • Develop and manage budgets for large capital expenditures and team • Manage and supervise direct reports • Write and review manuscripts for publications and present at scientific conferences Requirements • Hands-on experience with complete NGS workflow from sample acquisition, library preparation, sequencing chemistry to data analysis • Demonstrated experience in taking conceptual product through development to a commercial product • IVD assay development experience on genetic diseases and/or cancer • Extensive knowledge on CLIA regulations and LDT development • Experience with clinical bioinformatics analyses and medical reports is a plus • Excellent program/project management skills • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage a multidisciplinary team in a matrixed environment All listed requirements are deemed as essential functions to this position. Education & Experience • PhD in biological sciences, medical sciences or equivalent • Typically has 10+ years of postdoctoral applicable technical experience • Typically has 5+ years of management experience and 3+ years of IVD product development • Experience in managing and mentoring various level scientists with various disciplines while managing product development projects
