Description This competition is open to all applicants however; internal candidates and applicants who were former employees of the University of Alberta will be given priority consideration before external candidates. Location - This role is in-person at South Campus, Edmonton. Position Summary The swine technician is involved in all aspects of the high standard of care and husbandry of the research breeding herd at the U of A Swine Research and Technology Centre. Responsibilities Farrowing room husbandry; sow and litter care. Treatment of sick or injured animals. Maintain vaccination program per herd health vet recommendations. Semen collection and artificial insemination. Euthanasia by approved methods as required for both humane and research endpoints. Maintain data collection standards for production and research records. Facility sanitation and maintenance. Qualifications At least a high school diploma Minimum 2 years of experience in a farrow-to-finish operation. Strong written and spoken English skills.
