    "description": "<p>North Suburban Legal Aid Clinic (NSLAC) is a dynamic nonprofit with a collaborative culture and the goal of becoming the model legal aid organization focused on suburban communities.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>The mission of NSLAC is to provide accessible, quality, equitable, free legal services in the areas of domestic violence, housing, and immigration to give low-income, at-risk community members access to justice and the opportunity to live productive and secure lives. </p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>We are seeking a <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Staff Attorney</span> for our Housing Law Practice.</p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><br></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Job Responsibilities</span></span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manage a caseload representing low-income renters in housing cases including evictions, terminations from subsidized housing, conditions issues, and lease disputes;</li>\n<li>Cover cases at the Skokie, Rolling Meadows, and Waukegan courthouses;</li>\n<li>Conduct client intakes and provide advice and brief services;</li>\n<li>Assist with off-site legal clinics in the community;</li>\n<li>Conduct Know Your Rights presentations for the community on housing law;</li>\n<li>Supervise and train law and undergraduate interns;</li>\n<li>Collaborate with NSLAC’s Domestic Violence Law Practice and Immigration Law Practice teams ensuring a holistic approach to client matters;</li>\n<li>Perform other responsibilities needed to ensure NSLAC team’s success.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Qualifications</span></span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>J.D. degree and Illinois law license required;</li>\n<li>Understanding of and commitment to NSLAC’s public interest law mission;</li>\n<li>A demonstrated team-player with exemplary interpersonal skills;</li>\n<li>Entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to succeed in a fast-paced nonprofit.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Salary and Benefits</span></span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>$70,000-$80,000 annually, commensurate with experience;</li>\n<li>Hybrid work schedule;</li>\n<li>Generous vacation policy including paid time off, sick leave, and paid holidays;</li>\n<li>Employer paid Health, dental, vision and life insurance; 401(k) entry available upon hire.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>Our offices are located convenient to a Metra train stop.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><em>NSLAC is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to provide equal employment opportunities in all employment practices.
