Description
About the role
We are seeking a Systems and Functional Safety Engineer to own system-level engineering and functional safety activities for our robotic projects. This role focuses on requirements of derivation and review, system architecture, failure analysis, and development of safety work products to support compliance and certification.
Your Responsibilities
Elicit, write, review, and manage system, subsystem, and safety requirements with full traceability across the system lifecycle Define, maintain, and review system and subsystem architectures, including interfaces, functional
decomposition, and technical documentation Drive systems engineering activities such as requirements allocation, interface definition, and system
verification planning Perform hazard analysis, risk assessment, and failure analysis (FMEA, FMEDA, fault tree analysis where
applicable) Define safety concepts, safety functions, and fault reaction strategies at system level Develop and maintain safety and systems engineering work products required for certification (e.g., safety plan, verification & validation plan, system architecture documentation) Collaborate closely with hardware, software, mechanical, and test teams to ensure system coherence, safety compliance, and requirement coverage Ensure bidirectional traceability between requirements, architecture, implementation, and verification artifacts
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Robotics, or related) Experience in systems engineering and functional safety for complex electromechanical systems Strong understanding of machinery/robot safety standards (ISO 10218, ISO 13849, IEC 61508, IEC 60204, IEC 61800, IEC 61010) Experience with requirements reviews, architectural documentation, and failure analysis techniques Ability to understand electronic schematics and related firmware at system level
