    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>Security Officers are responsible for observing and reporting safety and security hazards affecting the personnel and property of the University; and to assist in enforcing University Safety and Security rules and regulations. The Security officer interacts with a variety of persons including; faculty; staff; students; contractors; vendors; visitors; public safety officials; and the general public.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Protect persons and property from unlawful activities and provide a safe and secure campus environment.</li>\n <li>Identify suspicious persons, behaviors and circumstances that may pose a public safety risk and take immediate and appropriate action to prevent incidents.</li>\n <li>Patrol campus and buildings. Monitor building-conditions and respond to unsafe conditions, hazards, and emergencies, etc. following safety guidelines. Respond to public safety alarms and assist with lockouts.</li>\n <li>Enforcing parking regulations, give directions and respond to requests for assistance and information.</li>\n <li>Prepare all required written reports such as responding, compiling and reporting all information in regard to theft alarms, accidents, and other incidents that may occur.</li>\n <li>Monitor alarms and panels for emergencies that might arise within the facility.</li>\n <li>Handle special assignments directed by Director of Campus Safety, such as: driving individuals between locations on a regular or intermittent schedule, special events, reception/visitor building posts, and working in command office as needed.</li>\n <li>Other duties as assigned.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p>·       High School Diploma or G.E.D. preferred, prior verifiable work experience as a security officer will be considered in lieu</p>\n<p>·      Prior law enforcement, military, or security experience preferred.</p>\n<p>·      Valid California driver’s license</p>\n<p>·      Bureau Security & Investigative Services (BSIS) current Guard Card required to work in California</p>\n<p>·      Basic computer skills</p>\n<p>·      Excellent knowledge of security protocols</p>\n<p>·      Ability to operate security systems and emergency equipment</p>\n<p>·      Ability to lift objects up to 50 lbs.</p>\n<p>·      Must have sufficient hearing to respond to normal verbal speech, alarms, radio and telephone communications</p>\n<p>·      Must have sufficient visual acuity to read and understand faculty/staff listings, posted orders, maps, computer screens, check identification, and to distinguish the faces of faculty/staff, contractors, vendors, guests and visitors</p>\n<p>·      Must be able to stand, walk and/or drive for up to 90% of the assigned shift</p>\n<p>·      Must have a command of the English language that is easily understood</p>\n<p>·      Must be able to respond quickly to incidents and emergencies (“Rapid Response”).
