The primary responsibility of the RDA is to assist dentists at chair-side, and to support departmental staff. The RDA must be professional, objective, and have superior customer service standards.</p>\n\n<p>A lab coat will be provided by the Dental Department. The RDA must wear personal protective equipment such as a mask, gloves, safety glasses while sterilizing and assisting and follow specific company and OSHA procedures when handling hazardous materials, s long hair must be tied back away from the face and no jewelry may be worn (i.e., earrings, rings.).</p>\n\n<p>The Native American Health Center is an accredited institution and adheres to the standards of excellence set forth by the Accreditation Association of Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and the Commission of Dental Accreditation (CODA).</p>\n\n<h1><strong><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:12px\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif\">DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES </span></span></span></strong></h1>\n\n<p><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:12px\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif\"><em>Perform all duties with excellence and in accordance with the Dental Practice Act of California. </em></span></span></span></p>\n\n<ol>\n\t<li><span style=\"color:#000000\"><span style=\"font-size:12px\"><span style=\"font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif\">Provide support to dentists. This includes following all instructions from the assigned dentist at chair-side. \\n\\tPerform RDA functions approved by the Dental Board of California \\n\\tGreet all patients in a courteous, professional, and timely manner. \\n\\tAbility to work in the General and Pediatric Dental Clinics. \\n\\tExplain plaque control to all patients in a manner that ensures their understanding. \\n\\tIn collaboration with the dentists, provide oral hygiene instructions to patients and parents/caregivers. \\n\\tApply topical anesthetic as requested by the assigned dentist. \\n\\tCheck patients; vital signs (i.e., blood pressure, temperature, etc.) as necessary and/or requested by the assigned dentist. \\n\\tPrepare operatory for patient reception, according to departmental policy. Ensure operatory is as aseptic as possible for patient welfare. \\n\\tEnsure pre-set trays are well maintained, and always ready to be used for procedures. \\n\\tProactively review chart notes for the planned treatment, in order to set up trays and operatory appropriately. \\n\\tEnsure all materials and instruments needed for providing treatment are ready and available for use. \\n\\tPrepare anesthesia for transfer to the assigned dentist. \\n\\tRetract oral tissues in order to increase visual access into the oral cavity. \\n\\tRemove excess moisture from the mouth by using hi-vac systems and/or air. \\n\\tProperly transfer instruments to dentists while maintaining extremely high attention to detail and adhering to sterilization standards. \\n\\tPrepare and properly deliver any required restorative materials to dentists. \\n\\tRemove all instruments from operatory in a timely manner and prepare such instruments for sterilization. \\n\\tPerform sterilization and maintenance procedure according to departmental policy. \\n\\tObtain Informed Consent prior to dental treatment, and deliver postoperative instructions with guidance from assigned dentist. \\n\\tAssist clinical staff in optimizing patient flow.
