Fresh vision. Real impact. Come build it with us. Why This Role Exists: Freshworks has historically managed US technical revenue accounting through external consultants. As our deal complexity has grown, so has the need for a permanent senior, in-house owner. We are bringing this function fully in-house, and this is that first in-house hire. This is a high-visibility, individual contributor role reporting directly to the Senior Director of Revenue Accounting. You will spend about 80% of your time on deep, technical work (research, judgment, contract architecture, and documentation) and roughly 20% on operational close workflows tied directly to the policies you own. The Technology Edge: We are committed to modernizing our revenue accounting workflows. We are currently introducing Klarity AI into our contract review process and this role will have the opportunity to guide this implementation — defining the workflows and auditing the outputs. This ensures our contract review process scales efficiently, allowing you to focus your time on high-impact technical analysis and cross-functional advisory. What You'll Own: Technical Accounting Leadership:  Own ASC 606 analysis for complex SaaS arrangements (SSP, contract modifications, variable/usage-based consideration). You write the memos, set the policy, and own the conclusions.  Real-Time Deal Support:  Partner closely with Legal, Deal Desk, and Sales Ops during active contract negotiations to evaluate revenue implications early and help structure non-standard deals.  Modernized Close Ownership:  Support the technical accounting aspects of month-end and quarter-end close, helping transform them into repeatable, automated, and audit-ready workflows.  Systems Evolution:  Help guide the integration of automation tools and optimize existing systems like NetSuite ARM and Salesforce to scale the revenue function SaaS Expertise:  8+ years in revenue/technical accounting, with deep ASC 606 expertise. In-house experience at a fast-growing software company is highly valued here.  Documentation Muscle:  A proven track record of drafting technical accounting memos and operationalizing complex policy from scratch.  Comfort with "Deep Work" : You genuinely enjoy diving into ambiguous revenue scenarios, multi-option research, and building structure where it doesn't yet exist  Cross-Functional Influence:  Experience sitting at the table with Legal and Sales Ops as a business partner, not just a downstream reviewer.  Background:  A Big 4 background is a great plus, but your practical, hands-on SaaS revenue experience is what matters most. Please note this is a hybrid role with onsite expectations of 3x/week (Tues - Thurs) from our San Mateo, CA headquarters. The annual base salary range for this position is  $170,000 - $223,000.  This role is also eligible for a target bonus. Compensation is based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to location, experience, job-related skills, and level.
