Thermal Design and Thermal Analysis of Spacecraft Optimize the combination of passive and active thermal control methods to maintain all spacecraft components within their allowable temperature ranges. Passive thermal control includes tuning radiative and conductive heat transfer paths, while active thermal control includes electrical heaters. (Note: convection does not exist in the space environment.) Design thermal hardware (e.g., Multi-Layer Insulation (MLI) ) and its integration onto spacecraft. Develop and maintain spacecraft thermal mathematical models (TMMs) consisting of conductive/radiative node networks and geometry models with assigned thermo-optical properties. Predict spacecraft temperature distributions and heater power requirements using thermal analysis software and thermal mathematical models. Improve the accuracy of thermal mathematical models based on thermal balance test results. Coordinate thermal interfaces among spacecraft systems and subsystems. Spacecraft Thermal Testing Plan manufacturing, assembly, and verification activities for the thermal control subsystem. Prepare test plans and procedures for Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) and Thermal Balance (TB) tests, and participate in testing as the responsible engineer. Design and prepare thermal test setups and ground support equipment (GSE). Development Management Develop and execute plans for the thermal control subsystem. Plan and manage development schedules and budgets. Coordinate with thermal hardware suppliers and subcontractors. Report progress and results related to thermal design/analysis, testing, and development management to Group Managers and Project Managers as appropriate. Strong knowledge of conductive and radiative heat transfer . Practical experience in thermal control design, thermal analysis, or thermal testing in aerospace, automotive, electronics, or robotics development. Business-level proficiency in both English and Japanese . Experience using Thermal Desktop thermal analysis software. Basic knowledge of orbital mechanics.
