We are seeking
As a Machinist Trainee , you will learn and develop hands-on machining skills under the guidance of experienced machinists, supporting the production of precision components in a safety- and quality-focused environment. You’ll gain experience interpreting blueprints and work instructions, operating different types of machines, using precision measuring tools, and following approved manufacturing and inspection processes while building a strong foundation for a long-term career in machining.
What you’ll do:
Reads and interprets specification manuals, blueprints, templates and layouts to determine machining operation to be performed. Computes dimensions and tolerances and measures and lays out work pieces. Verifies dimensions of products for accuracy and conformance to specifications using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges and micrometers. Troubleshoots, debugs and modifies to achieve expected performance. Adjusts and sets up machine tools for use by machining tool operators. Participates in continuous improvement of cell processes. Cross trains in other complementary skills and seeks endorsements for those skills as needed to support production requirements. Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements. Participates in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements. Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions. Carries out other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
Completion or enrollment in a machinist or aerospace related program; or related machining experience. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average work day. Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with the ability to perform work requiring high accuracy and precision, consistently meeting quality and tolerance requirements. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency in the use of precision measuring instruments and hand tools, including calipers, micrometers, gauges, and torque tools. Ability to read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings and blueprints. Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to perform shop-level calculations (fractions, decimals, percentages, etc.). Must have flexibility to work day, evening and weekend shifts.
Desires Skills:
Working knowledge of company instructions, internal processes, rework procedures, OEM manuals, and MSDS/SDS documentation, with the ability to apply them correctly on the job. Experience using production management and internal control systems (e.g., work order tracking, inventory, or quality systems).
