Description

POSITION OVERVIEW Harbor Health is seeking a Medical Assistant Float to support our Village Medical clinics across Austin. This position plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, member-centered care while traveling between multiple clinic locations to ensure continuity of operations. The Medical Assistant Float will work closely with clinical teams to support Harbor Health's integrated care and payment model, helping members navigate their healthcare journey. This role reports to the Practice Manager. POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Travel between multiple Village Medical clinic locations in Austin to provide coverage as needed Room members and obtain vital signs, medical histories, and chief complaints Assist healthcare providers during patient examinations and procedures Administer injections, medications, and immunizations per provider orders Document member encounters accurately and efficiently in the electronic health record (EHR) Collect and process laboratory specimens following established protocols Perform point-of-care testing and ensure quality control measures are maintained Coordinate member scheduling, referrals, and follow-up appointments Support members in understanding Harbor Health's integrated care and payment model Collaborate with health plan operations to facilitate seamless member care coordination Maintain examination rooms, medical equipment, and supplies Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and safety standards Adapt quickly to different clinic environments, teams, and workflows Communicate effectively with Practice Managers at each location regarding operational needs DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Required: Current Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA, or CCMA) Current BLS/CPR certification Minimum 2 years of clinical medical assistant experience Proficiency with electronic health records systems Strong clinical skills including phlebotomy, injections, and vital signs Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between clinic locations daily Flexibility to adapt to varying clinic schedules and operational needs Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and integrate quickly into different team environments Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Preferred: Experience in primary care or multi-specialty clinic settings Bilingual (English/Spanish) Experience working in value-based care or integrated healthcare models Familiarity with care coordination and health plan operations Previous float or multi-site experience WHAT WE OFFER Opportunity to develop diverse clinical experience across multiple clinic sites and build relationships with various healthcare teams Mileage reimbursement for travel between clinic locations Collaborative and dynamic work environment An organization made of people who are passionate about changing the healthcare landscape Competitive salary and benefits package Professional development and growth opportunities A transparent and unique culture At Harbor Health, we're transforming healthcare in Austin through collaboration and innovation.
